D-Nut Term 4

Good eyes, peter grimes - there is a Donut town not far from "our" furs. I didn't notice that.

Chat with Robi ... Peter Grimes was ready in a whisper if necessary

RobiD77: hi fe
fe3333au: hi Mr Robi
RobiD77: how are you today
< Hello how are ewes ;) >

Lets start talking ... the War ?
fe3333au: so how is the war going?
RobiD77: ok i guess, they just seem happy piss farting about around the jungle, which as far as im concerned doesn't bother me, i just speard some mw's just in case they try anything cute
fe3333au: so doesn't sound like much of a war ... things settling down you think?
RobiD77: well they've changed their plans since we wiped them eariler so it might just be the calm before the storm, but we are quitely confident
fe3333au: That's cool ... but i guess you are wary
RobiD77: yes, just stay on guard, have a few mw doing patrols around the coast and stuff so they can't sneak up on us
fe3333au: what a fun environment

< So TNT must have lied or Nuts did ... greekguy said TNT victorious in last battle >

Looking Glass Equivalent in Nuts
RobiD77: we see you've nearly caught up to tnt on points
fe3333au: yes :D
RobiD77: yes very fun :)

Apology about expected deal not happening
RobiD77: sorry bout the poly deal
fe3333au: Good luck to have it popped
RobiD77: even the meleet came down and spoke to me
fe3333au: I hope you built a shrine
RobiD77: said i was the assiest player in the game

< building a Temple ??? >
RobiD77: we are constructing one at the moment

<about Nut luck >
fe3333au: I think I agree ... we got heaps of Barbs ... how many tecys you got in total from goody huts?
RobiD77: so did we, but i must say i have ridden my luck as a turnplayer, and its worked so far ... 2 ... mason and lit ... a map and barbs
fe3333au: we got CoL ... and another I think ... or was it maps ... i know we got a useless map of alreday discovered territory
RobiD77: yes so did we
fe3333au: That was great
RobiD77: it reaveled like 3 new squares
fe3333au: or should I say grate LOL
RobiD77: hehe

Current Research rate
RobiD77: well we will have poly in 3 so if you guys have MM or currency at that time or the very near future we are happy to work out a deal

< the change of topic came mid thought stream >
fe3333au: We also recently got some cash ... sorry ... was still on huts
RobiD77: huts, barbs, or trades

Addressing Trade deal
fe3333au: Trading for Poly ... I will have to take back to team ... we are on 3 and half active players atm
RobiD77: that bad huh
fe3333au: but we got 3 turns to think about it ... yes?
RobiD77: yes
fe3333au: Yes ... holidays and maybe exams

Relaxing of Turn Rules
fe3333au: glad someone mentioned relaxing 24hr rule
RobiD77: yes i think its only fair, like howmany people are going to be checking the game over christmas/new years every day

About Luxes
RobiD77: like i said if you can get MM they we can knock up a couple of harours and trade wine and ivory
fe3333au: Unfortunately we got those luxes ... pity ... I thought about that when our ship was passing ... would have been good to have unique luxes
RobiD77: wine?
fe3333au: not yet

Define Stealing
RobiD77: trying to steal some from kiss
fe3333au: You have to own something first before it is classed as stealing surely ;)
RobiD77: you know what i mean :)
fe3333au: and you know what I mean :D
RobiD77: hehe

Suggesting KISS tension
fe3333au: Bloody Agro trait ... in civ and aussie term

<Oz = agressive>

RobiD77: i had a bit of fun with provo in your thread
fe3333au: yes ... what a dickhead ... I was half tempted to engage him ... but though other threads best suited for that :)

Agricultural Trait
RobiD77: i think the map stop the agro trait from being an issue really ... in the long term that is

Potential Trade of Luxes
fe3333au: Actually regarding potential trade ... any other luxes around?
RobiD77: there some furs not to far away, other its a bit dicey with imoos lurking

KISS Land Grab
fe3333au: Re Trait yes ish ... could grab territory quick and then fill in later
RobiD77: true but then your exposing yourself to other dangers by doing that
fe3333au: We will have our own furs soon ... hopefully ... see above grab strategy as reference
RobiD77: good luck with that and the wines
fe3333au: thanks ... so have you seen any others?

Other Luxes
fe3333au: dyes, spice, incense???
RobiD77: only in the jungle
fe3333au: We seen too late spice
RobiD77: some on fringe some in the middle
fe3333au: OK thanks
RobiD77: i figure it would be the same for you guys given the symmetry of the map
fe3333au: yes ... KISS cities are already in jungle before us ... But we will keep eyes open
RobiD77: pity you dont have a unit to take them ;)

< Hoplite could be GA Bomb >
fe3333au: yes ... good point ... but then again anyone attacks us .. we go straight into Golden Age LOL

Signing Off
RobiD77: well my 15mins break from the torture is nearly up so i have to go. Keep in mind the deal and get back to us
fe3333au: yes ... so are you our contact or is nobody getting AIM?
RobiD77: im not sure, i think he is, but im the assistant FA so to speak
fe3333au: yes understand ... If he does can you send us his AIM details?
RobiD77: sure no probs
fe3333au: so I can't agree to anything at the moment ... sorry
RobiD77: that ok neither can i

SO... Here's a few things to remember from this chat:

DNUTS may be lying about battles, same for TNT.

Dnuts have MW's patrolling the shores looking for stray Immortals. They will likely see our galleys.

Dnuts have not settled in the jungle, and they didn't mention the TNT settlement on the eastern flank. But they do know of the resources there.

Will have POLY on turn 78/79 unless something changes

Now know of KISS jungle settlement

Anything big that I've missed?

Nuts have Ivory and Wines ... and will be able to grab Furs soon.

They have been very lucky in battles and other dice roll events like hut popping ;)

They are eager to sell Polytheism to us for Currency or Map Making ... which they will potentially pass onto KISS to get Republic.

>>>>

Options for the responce to Nut trade proposal
We have 3 turns to come up with a responce ...

1. Don't respond ... This one I am totally against ... we get intel each time we talk ... so ignoring is not a strategy I am comfortable with.

2. Honesty ... that we consider Map Making and Currency too dangerous to trade to Nuts at this juncture ... they know that KISS are holding an auction for Republic so this is legitimate ... and will not cause too much negativity IMO.

Nuts claimed to have popped Masonry as well as Literature. I wonder if they are telling the truth.

Do the familiar red and blue war/peace lines show up on the F4 (diplomacy) screen in all-human multiplayer?

It's just a real stretch for me to believe that they popped Literature. But they could not have gotten it from KISS, so that only leaves TNT. I can't imagine there's a way to 'fake' being at war, and still conduct a trade, if the F4 screen shows the peace and war status.

Regarding the war and peace diplomatic webs ... yes they do but embasies will have to be established in both of the Battle Isle capitals.

TNT do not have Literature as per our last turn ... so hut popping is the only way Nuts could have gained this knowledge.

However as to the red of war showing on the diplomatic screen while in reality teams are at peace ... I see it very easily being done ... war is automatic declared as soon as a unit is attacked ... this situation stays as long as peace is declared ... Peace however can be agreed upon through out of game diplomatic avenues ... result a peace that only the protagonists know about. (teams just have to deal with war weariness problems)

I agree with the Honest approach - besides, not responding is just plain rude, and they don't deserve that at this point.

I think there is something in the rules disallowing this - I seem to remember something about not being allowed to be at war if you weren't actually fighting.

Rules about War

1.5 - War Happiness

Description: No team or individual is permitted to declare war on anyone with the intent of generating some happiness amongst its populace.

Definition: A team declaring war on another just to invoke a little extra happiness.

Purpose: To prevent this 'feature' from being exploited and retain the spirit of the game.

Verdict: Using this exploit or any other exploit that allows Happiness to be generated in such a way as to violate the purpose of this rule through any means is a violation of this rule.

Punishment Level: Once – Orange (1+ Turns), Repeat Offense – Red (1-20 Turns)

3.7 Accepting a Peace Treaty from a Civ then immediately declaring war

Description: A team at war with another can accept the latter's Peace Treaty, then declare war afterward in order to eliminate War Weariness from that team. This results in a huge advantage if the peace-seeking team is not aware of the trick.

Definition: This can result in a team’s properly acquired War Weariness being shut off and the possibility for the other team to suffer from it should they redeclare war.

Purpose: To prevent unfairly using the games mechanics to negate or reverse the effects of War Weariness,

Verdict: Do not accept peace if your intention is to behave in a war-like manner, unless a determination by the game staff to fall within the rules of this ruleset dictates so. Any method to break war weariness in any such manner is a direct violation of this rule.

Punishment Level: Once – Orange (2-10 Turns), Repeat Offense - Red (5-Expulsion)

3.8 - Staying at war to upkeep War Weariness but not actual fighting

Description: Being kept at war by a team with the intent of inflicting War Weariness, and the penalties that are associated with it.

Definition: This can result in a team’s War Weariness being applied and worsened when the team no longer wishes or is able to wage war against the other.

Purpose: To prevent unfairly using the games mechanics to increase, exaggerate, or prolong the effects of War Weariness when waging war is not a reasonable option as determined by the game staff.

Verdict: A team must accept a peace offer, within a reasonable amount of time (determined by the game staff), if war has not been waged or reasonably waged in a reasonable amount of time (all determined by the game staff)

Punishment Level: Once - Orange (1-5 turns and/or Forfeiture or funds), Red (5 – Expulsion)

Therefore Peter is correct ... although motive is different so the penalties would be different.

The honest approach seems most prudent. We cannot trade a monopoly tech to Dnuts that we may be able to include in a deal with KISS for Republic. Lo, we may not be on the best possible terms with KISS, but we will gladly trade with them for Republic ;)

But I also think it best to not tell this to Dnut until after a couple of turns of deliberation. Then we'll be gearing up for the next elections, as well. Sucha messy time to orchestrate a trade :)

Chat with Robi ... I was abit unprepared  ... but all good

RobiD77: good evening fe
fe3333au: hi
RobiD77: how was your weekend
fe3333au: it sort of sucked ... allergied out ... but apart from that ok :)
fe3333au: you?
RobiD77: not too bad, had a xmas dinner tonight with some friends
fe3333au: it's the season LOL
RobiD77: hehe, yes it is

To Business ... i forgot recent pop ... and assumed we were stalling
RobiD77: so has your side come up with any proposals
fe3333au: we are in the middle of elections ... so we need to address that first ... damn those turns are speeding though ... bad time of year

< and ... >
fe3333au: so sorry I have no answer at the moment
RobiD77: i see, thats ok i understand. Do you at least have an inkling on whether something can be worked out

< Damn what were we doing ... ummmm ... >
fe3333au: could you fill me in again ... sorry been distracted by allergies ... so am a bit cotton wool headed atm :(
RobiD77: hehe thats ok, we will have poly next turn, so if you guys have Maps or Currency we would be happy to work something out
fe3333au: Oh thanks ... Now you mention it ... I actually have been keeping a count down LOL
RobiD77: no problem

< More time best approach ... still can't remember >
fe3333au: to answer your question ... I hope this doesn't anger you ... but we do need some time ... I will have an answer by the next save comming to you ... is that ok?
RobiD77: no thats ok. So how are things with kiss

< Great change of subject ... I know this answer > :D
fe3333au: tense ... very tense actually
RobiD77: having an expansion rush ... contest
fe3333au: yes it is difficult ... we are trying to keep up with them ... and we are getting cities that can see each other ... and unfortunatley the citizens are not waving
RobiD77: i suppose we would be doing the same thing if we weren't already at war

< Here's an opening for some intel >
RobiD77: were having a military build up contest :)
fe3333au: So how is war going ... the immorals are keeping you occupied?
RobiD77: yeah been trading blows, but no descisive winners so far
fe3333au: any casualties?
RobiD77: yeah a couple each
fe3333au: so last skirmish was even?
RobiD77: yes, just testing each other out atm

Snap !!! ... Light Bulb
fe3333au: Actually I have to say ... now that I'm focusing on game ... we popped our last hut ... and got Poly ... we actually wanted a government
RobiD77: ahh, very good, got a bit of luck
fe3333au: sort of ... it could have been better for us both though :(

Ask Game Machine question
fe3333au: Do you know the game engine well?
RobiD77: not awfully well but get techs is good
fe3333au: Wondering can you get a GSL if you are first to get a tech even though through popping? ... Damn I'd love one of those babies
RobiD77: hmmm, not 100% sure, i don't think so
fe3333au: it doesn't make sence if you could
RobiD77: no, it wouldn't, i would say you have to research the tech to get one
fe3333au: Yes

< spoke of xmas and weather >

Any gossip about us from KISS ???
fe3333au: So have KISS said anything to you about us?
RobiD77: not really, same as you, not communicating ect

< know what you ment ... but I want to play >
RobiD77: tnt been talkative
fe3333au: To you?
RobiD77: no i ment to you
fe3333au: LOL I thought they were sending e-mail insults ;) ... regarding us ... the channels are open ... but they have nothing we want
RobiD77: well sort of, its the only thing you could call their peace proposals
fe3333au: I suspect they are sending messages to KISS as well
RobiD77: have they said anything about the war, are they still supremely confident

The War ... let's add some MIA magic :mischief:
fe3333au: They have been cocky enough to send us news from th front ... different stories though
RobiD77: really how different
fe3333au: yes ... they have had recent victories ... and the final push will be comming from an unexpectant direction
RobiD77: hehe is that so
fe3333au: they don't see you offering much resistance
RobiD77: did they mention the recent defeats too or did they skip that bit
fe3333au: First I heeard LOL ... we were beginning to get worried for you
RobiD77: they can believe what they want

< Intel fishing >
fe3333au: Do you know how many cities they have?
RobiD77: no doubt they can hurt us, we are not completely dilusional like they are, but we can hurt them too ... we have a rough idea
fe3333au: we saw 2 coastal cities ... and a source of iron
RobiD77: yeap, the rest are inland

fe3333au: do you have any cities in spitting distance to them?
RobiD77: no there a fair distance of seperation, remember us 2 have been building units not settlers
fe3333au: good point

< War strategy >
fe3333au: So your strategy is defence ... while they do all the movement ... and end up long way from nearest base ... good strategy
RobiD77: more or less but we will do a bit of poking around to
fe3333au: you have the movement points for that
RobiD77: thats right, so i don't understand how they think we will offer no resistance, not that i really care
fe3333au: they speak big ... you got any elites yet?
RobiD77: they been speaking big since day one, and they haven't been able to back it up with actions though

< Fishing for Military units intel >
fe3333au: that is where you are better ... if they get elite ... it is probably wounded and you take it out before it gets home
RobiD77: no just vets ... haven't been lucky on the promotions front
fe3333au: What about them ... have you taken them out before they got back?
RobiD77: none that have entered our zone have returned
fe3333au: I like that ... for those about to die ... we salute you LOL
RobiD77: in fact their immortals haven't put up much of a fight at all we were begining to wonder if they knew which end to point at us
fe3333au: LOL

RobiD77: well i better get to bed, work tomorrow :-(
fe3333au: no good ... nice talking to you ... sorry about fuzzy head ... but you will see next turn on tech screen that we are not lying ... we will be only ones who have Poly ... LOL just like Lit
RobiD77: no worries have a good night, hope the allergies clear up
fe3333au: cya

Excellent phishing, Fe! I wonder if they post the logs, and I wonder if they realize how all these seemingly insignificant tidbits add up to a tangible chuck of knowledge!

The town is located 2 SE of the eastern furs. It is indeed tough to see, but, in my browser, when I option-click I have the option of "View Image". When I do that, the image appears at true pixel size in a new window. It is in that view that I can make out the boundary at the edge of the fog running SW to NE for three tiles, the middle tile being the one bordering the eastern furs.

I hope that makes sense. I'd do an image edit, but it will take a while on this compy.

Our Warrior has caused diplomatic ripples ... :D

Titled ... Warrior Movement
To the government of MIA,

We have received a worrying report that you have placed a warrior one our western borders.
We have had unannounced guests previously with less than pleasent results, therefore we ask what your intensions are.
In the meantime we ask that your warrior does not make any moves until this question is resolved.
We also warn you that any agressive moves will be dealt with swifty.
We await a prompt response from you.

Robi D, Turnplayer, Doughnutia

I propose something like this in reply

Robi D, Turnplayer of Doughnutia

Thankyou for your swift and frank message.

Let me put your fears to ease, our warrior is merely a tourist, a seer of sights. We shall respect your cultural borders as you would respect ours.

However if you are suggesting that this entire land is out of bounds, then I reject your claim. We, as you are free to roam where we please in any unclaimed area of any land. Please take care not to over react, we seek only the right to peaceful exploration and wanderings.

Make no mistake, MIA is certainly not of the same ilk as these warlike TNTers. We find their ways strange and unfathomable, the exact oppersite to the peacefull existence that we in MIA strive for.

On that note, how goes your war? We hope that all is well and the gods of Justice and Battle look favourably on your endevours.

Peaceful Regards

Feaurius III
Foreign Minister - MIA

I have sent it ... I believe a swift response is better than waiting for wording concensus

There is a settler behind the Donuts archer in their Welcoming Committee. Most likely the Donuts will be founding another town soon, and our warrior will be trapped between their cultural boundary and the coast. We are probably better off reboarding the Twitching Aardvark next turn and returning to land further north away from the Donuts anyway.

I thought that was the plan, to reload him onto the boat ... horseman's job is to gallop around the grassy flats where the extra movement is properly utilised, while our intrepid footman will eagerly cut through jungle and swamp after seeing it the goody hut is still intact.
