So I installed Civ4 on my laptop (which I have had it on in the past). Then I installed the patch to play online and once I did that, trying to start the game simply got me the message "The program can't start because D3DX9_32.DLL is missing from your computer..."
I typed this into the search field in the forums and was taken to a thread where a user posted a link to fix this apparent problem (which was a direct x component). So I downloaded it and it asks me where I want to install it, and I have no idea what folder it goes into with in my Civ4 folder. So next I decided that I would just uninstall and reinstall, but when I went to programs and features and tried to do so, it told me that civ was running and I needed to close it first. However it is not running...
ugh. Can anyone help?
Thanks

So I found D3DX9_32.DLL file online. Downloaded it and extracted it to the Civ4 folder...
I tried to start the game and it got further into the start up but then I get an Init Error: Error loading shader libraries....
so frustrating

Woohoo...

I was able to take care of this with some info and links from another thread.

Thanks to all you smart people out there. I would be lost with out ya'll
