Ok so scandavia had english settlements so their challenge is that their settlements are spread around

Just to say I'll be doing my map making at half-term

If you were going to use Wales, I'd highly advise you use Llwelyn ap Gruffudd as a possible leader. He was the last great king of Wales before Edward I finally shattered the kingdoms independence. It was under his rule that the Welch Kingdom was more united then it ever was.

Wales was a very divided nations because land of the father was shared equally among all sons, rather then just the oldest. So a single province could be divided into many within a few generations. Also, England’s marcher lords held considerable footing there for a time as well. I don’t know how you could involve this intense decentralization into the game though.

But anyway, I’d seriously advise using Llwelyn ap Gruffudd as the Welch leader. After all, he was the only one who wore the title “Prince of Wales.”

I'm not certain, but the welsh leader may be outside the timeline of this scenario... what date would he have been prominent? Within the scenario's timeline? I'm not certain if the creator intends to go beyond what would have been the Norman Invasion... 1066 ad... there are no Normans in the scenario. But he'd be the final authority, natch.

Sounds good, otherwise.

Machynlleth, Llanelwy and Caerdydd should be added to the list of Welsh cities. I'll try and think of some more historically significant towns.

EDIT: Also, if you want a leader from before 1066, go for Gruffydd ap Llywelyn and/or Hywel Dda. Hywel was the first leader of Deheubarth (West Wales) back in about 920AD, then Gruffydd was Prince of Gwynedd until about 1063.

EDIT 2: Dunno if archery was around back before the turn of the 2nd Millennium, but Wales' UU should probably be some sort of archer.

Hello. Looking forward to trying your scenario out. One thing I would recommend...check out the Rood and the Dragon scenario for Civ III. It might help with initial ideas, possible uu's, etc..

I can do alot of things but I'd need somebody to create leaderheads and Units. The map-making I'll start tomorrow. Thanks for the welsh leader suggestion.

Any Infomation about scripting as I'd like to script the scandivian raids.Just to say I'm not that good at all at modding. If anyone was to take up the mod on my ideas it would be great and I would help out in Research and Advanced Editing eg. leaders, dates and calendar

Thank You. I still hope somebody can make the map and I help with editing and research.

Current Debate: 3rd settlement for east anglia, Thetford, Elmham and ?

Sorry, but I can't help you with that, I can help you with Wales though. The most powerful principalities in Wales were Gwynedd, Powys and Deuheubarth (Dyfed) so I would reccomend those if you are going to split the factions up more. Also, the peoples of Cornwall, Manau and the southerb Scots all spoke Welsh.

If you wanted to use authentic Old Norse names for Viking settlements in Ireland, here are a few I know of:

Wicklow = Vikingrló
Waterford = Vaðrefjörðr
Wexford = Eskifjörðr

There are probably lots more, but research would be needed.

Yes, authentic names...

For Wales you could have

Caer Yn Arfon
Bangor
Aber(gwyngregyn)
Dolwyddelan
Dolbadarn

(All in Gwynedd)

I don't know much anout dark age settlements in the other pricipalities, sorry.

I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to work on this guys. Hopefully someone can take up the idea as I'm really busy

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but i have to ask. Thracian, are you saying you're not working on this map anymore? if so, is someone?:p

I like the sound of this scenario, hope to see a finished product soon, keep up the good work.

Ok well im going to pick this scenario back up then, if anyone or the creator wants to give me advice or help please feel free, and if someone thinks this scenario needs a mod they should also speak up, because i dont have any modding experience and dont know if this scenaro needs a mod.
