Hey there everyone,
Well, I'm trying to play Civ III but it keeps giving me this blasted data2.cab error.
Here is the full error message:
Component transfer error
Component: Program Files
File Group: Program Files
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: Incorrect function
It sometimes also says "cyclic redundancy check" in place of "incorrect function" I'm at a loss. My CD is from Best Buy (when it was first released though, so it's like 5 yrs old, but it's in good condition). I've installed it before and it worked just fine, the only thing that changed is I have a new hard drive (My old Maxtor got the 'click of death' and rolled over) so I obviously had to reformat and install windows again (I run on win2k) but that went smoothly.
Has anyone had this error before? If so I would be very grateful if you could tell me how to fix it. The only other thing I can think to tell you is it dies on this file consistantly:
Civilization III\Sounds\Diplomusic\DipASEarlyWar.mp3
I don't know if that holds any significance, but this problem is driving me nuts. Any info on this problem would be great.
my best,
Gunther
