Hi all,

I bought the game in 2006 and played the heck out of it between '06 - '07 on a laptop while deployed in Iraq. Have not touched it since being home, but decided I wanted to play it again. While attempting to install it to my desktop I received a cyclic redundancy error for the data2.cab file. It appears that the game disc cannot be read from a specific point within that file. The install looks like it hangs right at the Spaceship wonder. I tried copying the contents of the disc to a folder on my desktop, but no joy.

I cleaned the disc, but while cleaning noted a couple of deep scratches. Is my only recourse to buy another copy of the game?

I believe the only way is to buy a new game, sorry about that. Luckily, it's still popular enough to still be carried by major retail stores such as Walmart, where I got mine a few weeks ago. Deep scratches may appear fixed but in reality have still affected the files themselves; you can't truely "clean" them.
