DEAs: Which, how many, where, when, what race?

As I see it, DEAs are an important part of MOO3.
So the questions are:
- are there some DEAs you always build?
- are there some DEAs you never build?
- how many DEAs of which types do you build?
- do you let the AI take care of all the DEA planing?
- do you, and if so, when do you, build recreation DEAs?
- Military DEAs: what are they good for, and are they worth it?
- do you specialize planets on different DEAs?

If you come up with anyone else please post them! :)

I always try to have a fair amount of bioharvest, mining, research and industry DEAs on each planet. But I never fill up the entrire DEA plans, and let the AI decide what to build somewhere.

The government DEAs the AI usually takes care of itself. But do you make sure it is built early?

I've just started building recreation DEAs. Only one per system, to help lower unrest. But do they need a certain amount of population to be built?

I've never built military DEAs, are they good for anything? Is it true that they help lower unrest if you are a hive race?

Questions 1 & 2 depend on what you want your planet to be... Due to limited space DEA's are often in a majority how you design your world - if it has high mineral content you might see enough food to support your people and enough rec areas to keep them happy but all they do is mine mine mine

Question 3 depends again on what you want - and what planet you have

I always take the planet I have, take its size (lets say 10) then x2 - thats how many regions you can have

Want it to be a mine planet? maybe 50% then make 5 mine regions

What it to be a mix of all, then split them up as you see fit

Question 4 - Id say no, the AI builds what it thinks you need and isnt smart enough to pick up certain things, use the dev plans to build your plan of what does what and what DEAs you get

Question 5- I let my dev plan figure out if i need them
I have an unrest one that simply builds Rec DEAS and I have an ALL planets one that has a teriary figure i change based on the content level of my populace

Question 6 - They help you reduce unrest, they also help in matters of troop contstruction (i think)

Question 7 - Yes, you must!! if you have a planet with HIGH resources - there is no reason you should have that planet use 10% of them and then waste the rest of them -- so mine/farm/research etc till your blue in the face!!

Here is a quick breakdown of DEAS

Research - builds buildings that add to your Research planetwide and empirewide
Military - is basicaly a garrison unit / building that helps you keep order and helps when you want to protect/fight using that planet - reduces unrest
Trade - Spaceports are a must as each region is allowed 1 free.. increase the amount of AU u get from trading
Government - Like Military - keeps the people in line
Mining - Mines resources
Famring - Farms !
Industry - adds to the PP of your planet
Recreation - reduces unrest a lot more than military and government but the other benifets these 2 deas give u is lost on recreation as it is just used for UNREST reduction
