I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, I kept cursing Firaxis for not having enough desert tiles.

i was looking at this again... is there no way to add things other than at the edge of the desert?

seen as theres only one total desert pic, if i mess with that, will all desert turn to that! Guess one way around it is to make a few bonus resources.. that dont actually give anything but an aesthetical bonus!

That's been the problem, only one total desert tile, if you add something to it, it appears on every desert tile in a large desert, no randomness at all.

yea... i had lots of palm trees! im gonna experiment with your trick though, adding things to the edges looks nice...

I have a problem that seems to be related. Yesterday I downloaded Snoopy's terrain and a bunch of your stuff. On the Desert, I get something that looks like a checkerboard pattern. If you look carefully, the colors are on the edges of tiles, not just an alternating pattern.

I'm pretty certain I downloaded the one that's supposed to be for Snoopy's terrain. After checking a few others, the checkerboard effect disapears inside desert if I use the greener snoopy version, but instead adds greener checkerboard tiles to both grassland and plains, which looks just as bad (I can make a screenshot, if you want).

Any ideas? :)

I find it hard to tell which graphics set you are using. Have you tryed it again with the xdgp file that came with the graphics set. It looks like you have a mix of more than one graphics set.

I have seen funny patterns like that when using land mark terrain when you were using a graphics set that didn't include lm graphics, again ends up being a mix of two graphics sets. Was this shot made with the editor and did you select land mark desert.

You may have loaded an old Snoopy's terrain for Vanilla or PTW that didn't have lm terrain and then selected lm desert in the editor.

I haven't heard of any one else having this type of problem, I am using Snoopy's original colour terrain and every thing is clean as seen in the screen shots posted on this thread.

The original file doesn't appear to have the problem, that's why I thought to ask you. The only change I made, as far as I can tell, is the Jungle. The file where the Jungle is in has been modified to use Joker's jungle, but I didn't edit any other files (aside from using the stuff you had).

It just seems that the Snoopy terrain I have is lighter than the terrain you use Actually, it appears lighter than the original terrain and I can see many color similarities between the file for the original Civ3 terrain and the one that I downloaded (in the third post). Is it possible that what you uploaded the wrong version for Snoopy's terrain? Could you do me a favor and upload the file you are personally using in case that would help? :)

@Louis XXIV
I am using the file posted in post #3 and the previews in post #1 are using that file.

Again, the picture you posted makes it hard to see what you are actually using because I see no coast or other features or terrain tiles, it appears to be dark like it is in the fog of war.

Is that an in game shot or an editor shot. Maybe you could post another shot.

Maybe could you say where you loaded the Terrain set from because there are more than one Snoopy's terrain thread/downloads.

I have been using Snoopy's for a long time, not sure is if is version 4.1 or 4.5 (standard).

Edit: Does any body else have any ideas for Louis XXIV.

I think it looks like tiles from different sets. Maybe those "corner stones" are from one set?
One possibility is that he's deleted one of the files, so that the original shows in some tiles...

Which art folder did you load Snoopy's terrain into. If you loaded it into the conquests/art folder and like mrtn said you may be missing a file, if the game doesn't find it in the Conquests/art folder, it will then check the PTW/art folder and then finally try to pick it up in the Vanilla art folder.

If you loaded Snoopy's Terrain into Conquest and are missing a file or have a file named wrong, it may be picking the missing file from the Vanilla folder and giving you this mixed look.

I loaded it into both. For the stuff that normally appeared in Conquests, I put it in the Conquests folder, for the stuff that normally appeared in the original folder, I did that.

I have no idea why I thought it would be a good idea to do an ingame shot, but here's an editor shot with the grid on (those markings in the desert that looked like stones were actually the show food and shield icons).
