This is the lines from the thread FUBAR

"Units with a bombard range of 0 will use their Bombardment Strength for defense, but will only inflict 1 HP of damage no matter what you set the rate of fire as."

It says ROF, but if I´m not all wrong it´s also is in effect with whatever strength of the bombard.
So it doesn´t matter if one have a unit with bombard strength of 1, or 100.
Still only 1 HP is deducted from the attacking unit.

Sad to be sure, since it would have been interresting to have a difference in this Def.Bomb between lets say a slinger and a machinegun crew.

Or have I misunderstood this ????

One do strive after having a large array of units so Def Bombard should be a vital factor indeed.
Then having the AI build and use them.

IIRC the Def Bombard Strength is likewise irrelevant; max damage= 1 Hit. You can inflict an extra HP by using Charm.

Yes in the case of city attacks and bombing the charm might do the trick.
In that chqarm-thread I put up a longer Question some time ago, that hasn´t been answered imho.

It looked also that folks around was still testing out this charm-thing.

The def.bombing should however have another area to cover. Almost like units with ZOC, but I took the WWI machine-gun nests as an good example I thought. Ancient slingers and later crossbowmen followed by modern time supporting MG should have the same small effect of just 1 HP minus.
Sadly it is, so I have to live with it.

Then I´m not sure I understood that how I can inflict an extra HP with charm during an attack. Surely charm will only be an issue if both the attacking unit and defending unit has charm ticked.
And if so I would better see the issue of siege weapons and later strategic bombers vs city walls and later Anti-Air installations. Airfield perhaps also with a charm tick, if possible.

PS I will however once more try to read the whole charm-thread and see what possibilities
