I have removed the defensive bonus for grassland, plains and tundra as I don't see a reason for it. Is this a bad idea? Is there a justifiable reason for it to be there?
I have also raised the defensive value for jungle to 35% as I think the Jungle would be better in defense compared to Forrests.
Any comments as to why these are good or bad ideas?
Thanks in advance for comments.

Defensive bonuses make sense, even in grasslands/plains because defenders are able to dig basic foxholes/whatever. Historically, the defender has always had the advantage in an even fight, due to being able to dig in, make a shield wall, etc.

Also, Jungle would be harder than some forests to dig troops out of.

Makes perfect sense, IMO. Terrain is one of the most important things in ancient & medieval warfare, and in modern wars too I guess. So it makes a lot of sense to make it even more vital. Open land has always been the most vulnerable places to be in a war. One would seek up higher to a better fighting position, or hide in forests, jungles, swamps etc, and being able to sneak unseen up to the enemy and launch a surprise attack. One of the reasons for the relative low att/def values of the early game units is probably due to this idea (on part of the designers) of making terrain bonus'es much more important to the fighting.

I think the digging in/shieldwall thingy is well accounted for in the fortify command.

I agree that defender do have more advantages. I remember back in the Three Kingdom period, soldiers pour water over mud wall during winter so it become a solid ice wall. Now thats some defensive bonus! ;)

However, it's a defensive BONUS. Does it make sense to apply a bonus to every terrain tile? The advantage of the defender in general is supposed to be represented in the defense stats and the fortify command.
