deity aw

One SW on PH seems a juicy spot, but it looks like we're gonna miss something great east (another high yielding food resource) or north (possible second gold tile). Hmmm...

Oh yeah, what does the acronym "aw" stand for?

EDIT: Never mind, just find a source all about it.

I think settling the PH is non-optional. Yeah you might miss something.. but for deity always war you really need that defensive bonus (all the better for the innate hill defense bonus for Mali's awesome Archer UU, which will also get even more bonuses since we're Protective Wang Kon) and the 2-hammer city tile to speed up the start.

Protective skirmishers? Sounds fun.

I agree with AZ that Sitting Bull is better because you'll be running specs, not pillageable cottages.

Nice map and does not look total loss by now.

Lots of excellent land to settle.

War is not that hard here too.

The only concern - can't wonder spamming too much (at all actually). Thinking, would it be better with OCC gameplay stile? :hmm:

@ Dirk : Cool man. You'll do what you wan't, obviously, BUT even if no one else cares, I look forward to whatever write up you have time for. I have progressed to the point where I don't lose automatically on Deity, BUT (and a very big but) I still can't win. I NEED instruction (write ups, yada, yada.) (For that matter, at least you have a fan - Dirk FTW! - who I am kidding? - you have plenty of fans. :))

Managed to fend some catapults, but I feel I will get owned sooooooooooooo hard. These Samurais...
Plus this usual problem: top defender is dead = you are dead

Question: Was this fort a mistake? It helped, but now I can't guess where would they attack, so need split forces. May be should just keep everyone inside city...

Oracled CoL, may be should go for MC and beeline maces. Went Great Generals tactic. But I am low on happy=low production/commerce.

Just razed barbs city SE - 3 workers :p.

Was doing not bad, still feel desperate... I wonder, will it be winnable, if I worldbuild it to have only 1 path to my territory, like in that OCC Always War map... :mischief:

@Snaaty Waiting for your update! :)

EDIT: And they haven't attacked from sea yet...

Until 100 BC
Spoiler :

Settled capital 1 sw. It looks like the best spot anyway despite being one of coast. Also it's on a plain hill which speeds up the start by some turns.

Started agri->hunting->archery->pottery->AH, began with building 2 workers in capital (taking care that i was at size 2 when gold mine came online by taking worker off queue when the farm came online). I then grew to cap while building skirmi's. At size 6 i built 2 settlers subsequently.Built 2 blocker cities in the east, one on plain hill 2E of corn and one 1E of gem hill. I need myst soon obviously and once i had researched that it tried something odd. Probably normal is BW->writing or something like that. No need for chopping though, whipping in capital is criminal with those tiles and i don't think i'll have time for a library anywhere soon. Further more protective skirmi's are downward better than metal units atm. In the meantime early monarchy is very tempting and i can get it well before 1000 BC.Actually got it 1440 BC, then realized that it would be nice to switch 2 civics at once so i ended up researching bw before the switch to Hereditary rule anyway. So bw first would have been a tad better but no big deal as copper was still outside culture.

From there i played more conservative, building loads of skirmi's. Got 2 GG's sofar, settled them both, wonder what i'll do with the third one as it isn't far away.

100 BC i'm ready to settle sheep island, helps with trade routes after currency and won't be attacked so soon. I'll get currency in 2 turns but money's running out fast.

Curiously i haven't researched IW yet despite having 2 gems. I actually never got to researching IW somehow. There were almost constantly enemy troops roaming around those gems so they were hard hard to improve and there's a good chance they'll get pillaged again soon anyway. And i got lucky by popping gems in the capital :goodjob:. So i chose to concentrate on improving capital as much as possible which is in line with the decision to go for monarchy so soon.

Peter's coming with a rather large stack as can be seen from the screenshot. I think i'll have enough to hold but it's probably prudent to whip that wall in Kumbi anyway.

@Dirk Nice nice.

Spoiler :
But do we have any chance here with this Ramses of Rome? He got all wonders in game.

Have you try chocking Babylon?

Of topic: anyone know what is default path for BUG logs?

Tried something diff til 125AD

Spoiler :

Love GW in an AW game, went Agri-Mason (GW) Oracle-COL, Monarchy, Math, CS, Feudal (LB)

Oracled COL to found Conf, religion is good to have here and allow earlier CS which is huge here.

Then decided to hold off expansion for fast research since capital has good commerce.

Found a good choke point near 2 gems, settle on one gem hill.

Used an early super GG defender to quickly level up. promotions went (D1-4, CG3, Hill2, Combat6). This allows fewer defenders and lower maint, hence faster research.

25AD: 1 turn to CS

125AD: super GG in action, have another Medic3 GG supporting

125AD: super GG stats, 6 turns to Longbow

125AD: capital. Ran caste for a bit to get a GS. First GP was a prophet.

Plan is to get to Feudal, set up strong defenses in another Eastern city (another Super GG defender. Then expand to the West.
