Deity Domination

For all deity players here, I wonder if you play multiplayer games. If so, what have been your experience? Do you usually win the game by rushing other players? Do you find it easier or harder than single player games?

Hmm, afraid to lose a game or two? Everyone knows that the true test of player skill lies in MP games. :p

Human players are aggressive...
Human players are unpredictable...
Human players will want to kill you sooner or later...

Doesnt sound like a real exploit when you pay nothing while you get nothing - no production no science no growth no nothing and then again you will have to go out of anarchy at some point of time where you WILL pay and/or lose your army.

the exploit is that you still command the army you don't pay for, and with chopping you can even build more

Yeah, I do play MP and it is usually harder than SP. The AIs follow the same pattern while players do not. Much more military is required in MP but I do win Conquest from time to time (Mostly team games). Anyway, these are two different areas and they are not very related to each other.

I've never tried multiplayer. For some reason, it just doesn't interest me... maybe I'm not competitive enough. I do play GOTM, but mostly for the learning opportunity and to participate in the interesting discussions. In GOTM, I don't really pay much attention to my score, I don't quite have the patience to score really well (although I have a ton of respect for those who do).

So by now, has Huge Deity been beaten? Or large? Is it still the best way to go with Romans, or has someone found other interesting civs? Game speed is marathon I guess, right?
I'm considering getting my feet wet on Deity for a change...but I'm a bit scared. ;) Other than Shadowsong's rather specific article, is there any new advice for general games?

Check out my article with Incas.

There is also a huge deity domination win entry in the HOF, but the guy used 1.52 so his entry will be deleted soon. I am not sure whether he used anarchy exploit or not, but he used catherine and cossacks to double his land mass between 550AD and 1100AD. By 1100AD, he had a domination win. I think he did a standard axeman rush.

Well both Huge and Large was beaten in 1.52. I'm not sure if that will happen in 1.61. Don't be scared, the Incan rush is an easy starter, Shadowsong described the procees very well.

i dont like mp, but thats just me. I guess i cant seat straith in front of comp too much, and i hate quick games so...
but human players are more predictable than ai for sure.

I would play a MP game if

1. I had available enough continuous time (both me and my opponents) to play an Epic speed game - I don't like fast games in civ.

2. I had a fast enough connection.

3. It was assured that all players would get copper in the capital or very close to it - otherwise it's a fast ending and unfair game for some of them.

4. The map had no village huts at all - it isn't a strategy game when one gets a map and the other gets BW from a hut. There are quite enough luck elements in the game already (i.e. the battles roll and the starting position), there is no need to transform it to roulette.

But I generally like the idea of MP games, because I believe they are much more interesting than SP games. Although there is no real diplomacy in MP games.

If you want a fast MP game, select quick speed and blazing turn timer. Also, you don't always have to join new games, instead you can join a game that is already in progress. It is fun sometimes just to see if you can turn a third-world civ around, and make them into a global powerhouse.

I am just wondering if anyone has won games under these settings for:

(1) Domination/conquest

(2) Space race

for a non-Rome civ, deity level, no permanent alliance, standard number of random AI Civ, standard size map or larger, no anarchy exploit, epic speed. If so, could you provide me with the writeup links for those games?

See hof. Also, see Shadowsong Deity guide. It's not epic but works for any speed I think:) . Very good. :goodjob:
