I don't have anything against malaysia but, how many famous leaders
do you know of that lead a mighty malaysian country? And I'm not
talking about city states, I'm talking about a REAL powerful country
that existed before malaysia became a colony.
The thing is, most of the civs that people want to add, will never be
added.
Why? I see nothing controversial in adding the Hebrews, that is Ancient Israel.

I have to disagree here too. The Islamic world respects Judaism and the Bible and sees them as predecessors to Islam. The disagreement between Jews and Muslims now is about current events, not about ancient history. The common people in Iran, for example, regard the Jews as brothers. My suggestion is to add ANCIENT Israel to the game, not the modern controversial one.

Perhaps a poll should be made in a seperate topic to determine what
should be in the 'official' want list for new civs. That way there
would be a basis for sending in a want list to firaxis.

For me, Israel is a dealbreaker. I am playing Civ 5 a lot right now but if there willbe no Israel civilizaiton mod, I will stop playing it. Everything about it (Leader, units, cities should be familiar to everyone and Israel today is still a (albeit through many twists and turns) continuation of the original civilization. So I believe its leader should be David (who expanded the empire the most), its special building should be theTemple, which should give a lot of culture points (with a high maintenace cost), and its untis should be the Macabee and the Merkava tank which is harder to kill and quicker to recover.
Austria and Hungary getting in separately is pretty unlikely IMO. If ever I think they'll get in as either the HRE or Austria-Hungary under the Habsburgs.
I'd love to see the Indonesian empire get in, if only because it'd give Southeast Asia serious representation in the game, but I doubt it. I really really need to get around to modding soon.
There's already an Israeli/Herbrew civ mod out, though I do doubt Firaxis will pick them for an official expansion due to politics and the fact that someone out there is going to overreact whatever they do.

Gotta say NO on the Byzantines. True many westerners are blind to there contributions. However to say the Byzantiens persevered Roman culture is false. Byzantiens WERE Roman culture. The people living in Constantanople called them selves Romans, there diplomatic rivals knew them as Romans etc.
So... in the context of Civ, they are Rome, just further along the tech tree

And really in retrospect the term 'viking' is like calling a Russian a russkie.
You just don't do it. Now since Norway is more famous for it's 'viking'

Another Civ that I long to see are the Phoenicians, the founders of Carthage.

Perhaps add Phonecia with Dido and someone else as a leader so as
to give a little more realism to having Carthage as a principle city.
Though even though I generally dislike suggestions like modern-south american
civilizations, I do think that brazil should be added. But then again I also
believe that columbia should be added (personal bias.)

Think you might've misunderstood me, IMO SE Asia is already very well represented, with Siam as a civ and KL and Singapore as city states. Geographically it's not too big an area, and though I wouldn't mind more coming that's alot.

They're an indication, but subsequent patches could simply just edit them out. If they wanted to release Seoul, for instance, just change the name of the Seoul city state to something else as part of the DLC release.
I think they did something similar with barb city names in Civ4.
