Woow, weried I never heard of it :o

So now everyone shold stop calling Columbus the finder of the new world :D

Thanks for the enlightenment tho.

Well, the fact that there were people there indicates that neither side discovered it ;)

There's also evidence the Basque were fishing around Cape Cod at the time.

The Scandinavians were the first Europeans to settle in the new world, at least (assuming you still except the Bearing Straight theory for exclusive Indian origins and ignore the Clovis arrowpoint controversy).

Or was it?
The Phoenicians sailed all the way around africa, so why could they not sail over the atlantic ocean? Is there still undiscovered mysteries about past civilizations? They have had to rewritten history multiple times, and there might be we have to do again ;)

LOL, I only go by evidence and there is no evidence they did so untill that is proffen I say it isent true.

It is quite possible that Columbus learned about Norse exploration which convinced him to sail across the ocean

Sailing around Africa is vastly easier because you have places to replenish food and water reserves

No, Columbus didn't even know there was a continent here. What convinced him is he was bad at math and thought the circumference of the Earth was smaller than it is. While everyone else correctly pointed out the actual circumference of the Earth (which we've basically known since Ancient Greek days), he thought it was smaller. Had there not been a continent here, he would have starved to death in the Atlantic Ocean long before he reached India.

I was talking about the Saga of Leif Erikson

It seems you have more than enough ideas for unique units, however might as well throw in my two cents.

Throwing Axeman (May not even need to be Norse UU, maybe something else), but basically it has a ranged attack, but if the unit is next to it, it will melee attack, so it can do both.
