Actually they do, I saw a Swiss merc.
A brief update today with an important disicion.
As you can see right now I don't really have any military builds. I was thinking about turning myself into a science monster and try too become more self sufficent with techs.
Happy no one on my continent got this.

For what it's worth, I don't think you can be self-sufficent on demi-god up.
I think you should attack the American possesions the English still have, you should be able to keep some of those as the American citizens will be happy to have you liberated them from England. Then take on the Dutch. I'm sure you'd be able to handle them. Specifically, retake your town that flipped and knock off on or two more and reassess the situation. If they are being difficult stop, if winning proceed. Then come back and hit England and Portugal. You should be able to take the whole landmass. Then try for more self sufficency.

Another peaceful turn, building for war. Since I've get luxs to trade hopefully I can bring portugale in on the war on the Dutch. England is starting to run away with techs. (Might have been because of the double luxes I was trading her[stopped it now])

Lizzie needs to be cut down to size, or she will run away with the game, I fear. You are 5 or 6 techs behind, and you dont' want to fight infantry with knights - it can be done if you have enough trebs and cannons, but boy is it a slog.
My belief is that you need to bring portugal and netherlands into a war with Lizzie - drop everyone out of democracy.

Hmm, theres always the chance that that can backfire and lizzy over runs port and becomes an even bigger monster. But it might be worth a shoot, seeing as I have to fight swiss mercs w/ knights. If I do try that I could stand to gain Washington from her.

I agree, attack England. Allying with the Dutch and Portugese will probably be beneficial, but don't mortgage the kingdom to do it.
