Demilitarized zones?

just one cool bargaining chip in diplomacy
If Firaxis implemented every 'cool' feature, the game would be an ungodly mess. You really need to justify why they'd be interesting, fun, and at least some details on how they work to make your idea better put actually explained.

Who woudn't want to keep the enemy from massing on thier border. If we can't declare demilitrized zones. Then we need to al least be able to address other nations in some way about the issue. If Stalin builds up a massive army on my border I should be able to threaten war over the issue. Mabye they are building this into the game??

They have certainly implied that this will be in the game from their conversations with the AI. They mentioned that the AI will recognize and object to aggressive settling and military build ups. I would hope that they would they would give the player the same opportunity.

It has been said that if the player builds up a mass of soldiers on a civ's border the civ will say something, like beat it or it's war, or that it makes them uneasy etc. I would love for the option to do the same to the computer if the roles are reversed.

I suppose as long as this is done it works. Mabye in civ 6. Civ 40 will be in a holodeck.:)

The closest thing I could think of is-if its true that buying & trading land is in-then maybe a system could exist whereby both sides agree to *relinquish* land-thus making it unowned.

De-militarized zones would be a fine idea if they had any purpose, say if vassels might rebel and attack you, then you would have a little time to react as they wouldnt have troops near your broders
