Democracy Challenge

Looking forward to trying this. Any time frame for completion? I might play the GOTM first.

I don't really know, but as a lot of people seem to have some time problems, I'd say end of April (1,5 month). If there are many people who can't make that, we could always extend it a bit. Would that be convenient with everyone?

By the way I was looking for this thread in the citizens forum and I couldn't find it until I saw that my spoiler thread had been moved. :goodjob: on the new forum!

When is the deadline for finishing?

End of April seems reasonable to me. (I said so in post #21, but I've now added into the original post.)

hey Dutch...whens the dead line.... :)Joking.

That deadline seems good. I may not post an extremely detail spoiler since i will probably just marathon play the game and not stop too often.

OK, I got womped in the GOTM so I started this one.

Spoiler :

I moved my settler in search of a hut. Nothing so I settled on the coast.
Founded Buddhism. :)
Stone and marble nearby.
Lost my scout to wolves. :(
Built a warrior and almost done with an obelisk in my capital.
It is 3000 BC.

So the settings of this game are the same as DG2?

So, I started play yesterday until 675 BC, then saved.
I did not take notes, but will try to tell it.
More important, I'll try for my first time that spoiler thing (thanks Methos);
if it fails, I shall try to delete it; if I cannot, some moderator please do itfor me (I know nothing of computers).
Sorry, I failed to the proper computer command.
And just now I guessed the "edit" should delete.
I got the advice in my MSN Hotmail, while I cannot go and answer the message.

Please don't put spoilers in here!

Spoiler thread's here

I'll open the first spoiler thread sunday. To post in that thread you must have located a strategic resource (iron/copper/horse) and you must have met 3 opponents. You may only post information about the period until you did this in that thread.

Dude, why are you getting so formal with this? Can't we just put stuff in this thread and enclose it in spoiler tags? I'll prolly have lost the game by Sunday and moved on to other things.

For the benefit of newbies, could you say a bit more about the theory here? When will spoilers for more advanced parts of the game be open? Why not allow them all from the start? FWIW, I am a very casual player and have already played this game several times (getting clobbered each time) and I look forward to seeing how better players have managed it. I am using this as an educational experience, not a competition.

Don't look too closely at my spoilers then! I'd like to see how better players handle this as well. Trouble is, if we wait too long many of us will lose interest. I think there's room for us casual players as well as the more competitive players. Besides, we have a whole subforum now so we can play lots of these DG related games and maybe even some DG related PBEM's as well.

This was a great idea dutchfire. :goodjob:

:hmm: That's odd, it should have worked. Okay, let's try this. In a post write what I have below in the spoiler tags.
This will be hidden inside the spoiler tags.
When you are done the post itself will look like this:

Spoiler :
This will be hidden inside the spoiler tags.

Whatever you write inbetween the

tags will be hidden. Whatever you write outside the tags will not. Does that help?

Yeah, I thought about it today too, and keeping it more relax is probably better as most people seem to be relaxed about it. Therefor I've opened a spoiler thread now. I would like to have a spoilers in that thread so people who want to play competitve won't see spoiler information against their will.
I'll copy your spoiler and Fed's spoiler there if you don't mind.

Methos: thank you again for your kindness. I did the two spoiler things, one
at the begin of report, other at the end (should they be repeated line by
line?). The text was big, can be seen in the spoiler thread, was this the
problem? I shall try again in a situation that doesn't make trouble.

Dutchfire: thank you for put my report in the spoiler thread and sorry again
for the inconvenience, it's just my ignorance of these machines.

[spoiler} test
(should they be repeated line by

No, the
tag tells the software where to begin using the spoiler tags, and the
tells the software where to end the spoiler tags. In other words, you only have to do it at the beginning and ending of whatever you wish to put in the spoiler.

Edit: If you are curious about other tags you can use I suggest checking out this page.

Thanks for opening the spoiler thread dutchfire. :) I'll post my tale of woe tonight or this weekend.

We should do a casual DG PBEM tournament. If we could get, say sixteen people, we could have four games of four players each all playing on the same map. The four winners could then play another map to determine the champ.

donsig....count me in for the DP PBEM tourny. I just dont have time to organize it.

Good idea!
I'm in.

We should do a casual DG PBEM tournament.

Do you want the honor of organizing that, or is it fair game for anyone who wants to get it started? :)
