Department of Turnplay

Democracy would kill us with the unit support, and we dont need the fast workers since everything is almost already cleared. Maybe when we get to Steampower that would be useful?

Yes, i was sugestion the change to democracy after we nail steam power.

Lets wait a bit more and get at least 3 techs from the gift of sugar.

The commerce/less corruption revenue will far excede the unit suport given by feudalism.

Continue building military, have BABE go for Banking, since they are in golden age.

We could go for Priting Press just to allow Democracy option open for Babe after they finish Banking. It´s only 1080 beakers....

Also: When will BABE send Gunpowder along?

I have now reinstalled vanilla civ 3. Boy is the loading screen ancient on it! I have another problem, however, I keep getting sound file errors :(. Does anyone have a pic of what the sound files should look like in the Civ 3 directory and the Conquests directory?

I took a quick look at the save before I head out to work and there's nothing much to report.

Babes sent Gunpowder.
I can't tell if Saber sent another 250g or if this is a second payment and I've got Feud queued up twice to send to them after already sending it last turn. I obviously have not figured out how to run the diplo screen yet.
Rockaway, as expected, rioted. No big loss but unfortunate and unnecessary.

See ya'll tonight... in about 14 hours.

NoAI=0! Always reneg deals off!

Accept gunpowder from BABE for 125 gold. Resend accepted Feudalism to Saber. We have salt near Paradise City and one in the southern mountains that is unroaded.

Whips (+12):
Whiskeytown- Cath
Cariboo- Cath
CBGB- Libe
Watchtower- Libe

Convert all taxmen to scientists and set us at 0 gold. Astro in 9 turns @ -9 gpt. We need to come to a consensus here on when and if we send TGL to BABES.

DSOTM-Worker-> Cath?
Sugarmountain-> Market? We can only build muskets, not 1 turn spears any more.

We are building warriors/workers most everywhere else.

We have 31 warriors and 24 workers, 69 total units. Since we have to build many more workers, is republic or democracy worth it?

Should we load up our galleys and attack FREE? Or wait to upgrade them? We could have Astro in 5 turns at gold loss.

Where do we build Sistines?

I thought CA2 would be fixed with the reinstall, but no such luck. Definitely a problem with CA2 and not Civ. Can someone post some CA2 culture shots and such? Especially a comparison of this turn and last?

Astro? Why Astro? Go Printing Press or Banking in 4 turns with scientists and gold loss, we get Astr/Chemistry and probaly Metallurgy for free from gift GLib to BABE.

According to CAII from turn 132 to 133 we gained +10 culture points but estimated win date is still 2753 AD, when will cities hit 1000 years old? they double cultural value then yes?

Sistine´s on Sugar Moutain. It´s the best productive city.

We have some turns into Astro. We can of course change to Banking if you want? The gold we lose is negligible, we are at 0 science, just specialists.

.

its not the city its the building - so the library in the capital will double in 430 AD. with the rest doubling later.

Im feeling paranoid, and i believe FREE will muster a force to invade us in the near future to avoid our gifting of the GLib to BABE and thus steal a great deal of techs.

How many warriors, spears, longbowmen do we have...how many squares do we need to protect in order to it to be an efficient defensive shield, FREE should have Astronomy and Chemistry by now....

JB can you try some of your spy duties near Whomp and ask if they can see FREE land for any possible concentration of vessels or something?

I sugest we keep finishing buildings in Sugar Mountain till we find it a good moment to gift it (i´m thinking all the techs till steam power like Killerkane said before i believe) while we do Banking, Printing Press, Democracy and maybe even Economics and Music Theory while the F/C provides us with the lower tiers.

What building do we lose when gifting Sugar Mountain? Are we building something that we will lose after? Don´t forget to sell one building before the gifting.

With the Leo´s and some money on the back we could have a deadly huge force of MDI´s, but we must be carefull in the timming since it only moves 3 squares.

Just in case some workers could be send to one of the iron´s and mine, just in case we need to road it in an emergency...

I´m just trowing all my ideias into this thread, i hope you guys take some into consideration/debate

Thks RFHolloway for the light on the matter, can you also tell me when will the projected average win be then with this countdown doubling for each city, or does CAII already have this in consideration when presenting estimated date?

1725 looks about right (2753 is the single city win date - look to the right of that), without doing reams of calculation. This does assume that we never build another culture building though which is not an accurate assumption, so should be quicker, unless someone else piles on the culture.

I will be away this weekend, and there is a turn headed our way from CB tonight. Can someone please please play the turn tonight or tomorrow?

I noticed this was late so played and sent the save. Not many changes to report. We accept 340 gold from the Babes and our palace expands.

In production this turn:

Graceland=>warrior-warrior in 1
GWOF=> warrior-warrior in 2
We Built This City=>worker-worker in 2
The Watchtower=>library-worker in 10
St. Alphonzo's=>library-worker in 10
CBGB's=>library-university in 200
Cariboo=>catherdral-library in 80
Whiskeytown=>cathedral-library in 80

A cathedral is rushed at Evermore and workers move to clear the remaining jungles. One galley moves south towards FREE galley just south of our borders and a galley in the north moves to the coastal square out to see revealing more coast two squares north. Three or four cities are switched to libraries and the happiness slider stays at 20% with astronomy in 8 at 0% science. IIRC we are now making 294cpt.

Gj Prince, just a note: can we get off Astronomy next turn, we are going to get it anyway, so why are we researching it? Lets do upper tier and unlock democracy, economics

Thanks Rick. I suppose we could switch to banking, but we have already spent a few turns on astro. CAII doesn't report a lower research cost for chemistry yet. Are we sure anybody has it? Are the Babes researching it, or do they have research off? I don't think democracy would be of much value to the Babes, and with no unit support wouldn't help us too much, either. If the Babes are researching chemistry gifting the Great Library might not help us much.

Also, I noticed we could squeeze five more towns on our island for increased unit support and about an extra 100 cpt in the endgame. Do we want to do this?

I believe they must be on Magnetism and Metalurgy by now, they are just doing the same they did for Education and so on, they dont trade the techs between them until they know we and BABE have them, it´s kinda cat and mousse, they are pressuring us to gift the GLib to BABE now, in order us to get only 1 tech or 2 maximum, we have to be patient i think.

Making new cities will increase corruption and hinder the core ones productivity and our ability to make wonders/military.

We are only gifting GLib once they have Steam Power.

With Democracy, both us and BABE can railroad everything 150% faster then normal, dont forget we only have about 25 workers now, thats not too much, and there´s still a few jungle and mountains to be worked, plus we could set up a chop/forest factory on ice tiles over in the north for a nice 30/40 shields free cost production per turn with Democracy.

Sistine´s have been built, but there is always the option to go for JS Bach´s Cat if we develop the other techs, since we have the gifting to BABE on our pocket we can make the best of it for a while.

I dont know what the BABES are resarching, i can only hope its banking.

But more important, FREE as Astronomy, and as started to scout our land, we must position our troops along the south continet side to blockade a possible FREE surprise landing, with caravels, MDI´s, Horsemen and Musktmen avaiable in the world its only good sense to watch out for our shores asap.

Turn 135

Produced this turn:

Graceland - Warrior
Woodstock - Worker
Evermore - Cath
Palace of the Brine - Worker
Slane Castle - Worker

Finances:
424 gp (-4gpt) was -7gpt.
Astro in 8 (Didn´t change to lose two turns already in this tech)
0% Research 20% Lux

Current Production in cities:

4 Warriors, 25 Workers, 1 Marketplace (3t Sugar Mtn), 1 Cath (4t DSOTM) plus 9 Caths, 1 temple, 6 libraries, 1 harbor and 1 galley.

Notes: We build This City is set to Warrior production because it as a barracks, some cities were not growing, were set to grow. Moved galley north and find an island with a FREE city on it. Sent some units south to blokade imediate possible landing zones

We have 28 workers and 27 tiles remain unworked (Jungle, Snow and Mountains). Iron near Sugar Mountain should be mined.

Reports: FREE as built Sun Tzu so we can expect an invasion force some time soon. Sent Invention to SABER for 340 gp with "accepted".

Questions: What is BABE researching? Should Sugar Mountain and DSOTM go Military production after completion of marketplace and cathedral? Should we rape our supply of Saltpeper near California Girls and keep making spears? Musketmen are soo expensive and we do have Leo´s afterall...
