Department of Turnplay

At size 2 is the warrior needed as an MP? If not, run him out to the mountain above the silks for a view of that fog and then get him back the turn prior to growth. Takes three turns and we grow in 4.

Using him as MP saves 1 gold - this is emperor - I thought from the conversation on the military thread that we wanted some warriors to stay at home, the fact that we could save some gold helped me in that decision.

I agree w/ the decision. That fog will be busted soon enough.

[Edit] BTW, I saw the thread in the main forum that's screaming that we're not turnng the game over fast enough. I'm willing to play turnsets but I got the feeling that that was a small, controlled set of players.

I put myself on point and played knowing Tim was away, but I can't play the turn too often. This is my first MP game so I didn't anticipate it turning round as quickly as it did. I'm happy for anyone to play - even if we make a few mistakes. Better that than getting the other teams mad.

I will try to create a strategy summary so that anyone can pick up the turn and play.

As RFH said, anyone can play; I've basically played most of the turns because most of the turns were not picked up by others (that's more tautological than I wanted).

I take at least partial responsibility for not playing the turn. I saw where Tim was going to be absent, but it slipped my mind and I didnt even check in this weekend. I say we have an elected turnplayer (Tim) for 20-30 turns each, with an alternate as well (so we have people to complain to ;)). That way we have someone at least responsible at all times.

When can most people play? - weekends are mostly out for me, but most weekdays I can check that we are not up - the logistics are a bit difficult (I mainly play on a laptop with no internet connection)

I play at all sorts of random times. Normally late when the rest of the household is sleeping.

I have a feeling that Rik has made a very funky looking Panagea type map. I would imagine it may connect all the way around. I think we need to get a few more exporers out looking for these other teams. When can we pop another warrior?

one coming out of great walls in 2 or 3 turns. Can pop warriors for a while there if we want. My natural instincts of a granary and worker/settler factory there is probably too builderish immediately - I must wait until we get a third city up before we persue that line

Great Walls of Fire (having just completed a warrior) can build the next warrior in 4 turns growing from size 2 to 3 in 6 turns, or can build the warrior in 5 turns growing from 2 to 3 in 5 turns.

Growth seems to trump everything. What kind of shield and food wastage are we looking at either way?

Haven't yet run the numbers, thought we would want at least 4 little sproglets - 2 running around finding people, and 2 keeping the home fires burning. After the current build will be soon enough.

If the map is likely to be a bit funky is it worth considering a dotmap that cuts a suez canal through our land - we have enough lakes.

I agree wholeheartedly. I propose:

Just built warrior goes south to the floodplains to wait for the settler from the capital (instead of granary, switch to settler). GWoF builds a worker not a warrior. Capital can then build the granary.

Exploring warriors might be good, growth is ALWAYS good.

I really like the suez canel idea. let's go for it. if we ever get to frigates and destroyers it would be great to be able to bring mobile artillery that far inland.

Keep the granary in the capital - once that is up we have a settler factory. It won't take long and we need the growth in the capital in any case.

We need to do some scouting as we will be producing a settler every 4 turns which is in danger of being faster than we can find city sites!

Overall I am happy with 4 warriors, Great walls of fire becomes a worker farm by building a granary aftert its current build, cities 3 and subsequent start gearing up for military.

Rather basic question that I cannot answer w/ digging around...

WTH are the saves, well, saved?

I remember a link, a password and a few other items but I cannot find them in this game.
