Describe your civ 3 play style in terms of traits

Either you misread or its really misprinted. The seafaring trait halves the shield cost of seafaring city improvements (such as harbors) but not wonders.

I can't pick only two traits, because any of the following two would give a false impression about my playstyle.

I'm expansionist, militaristic, and industrious.
Expansionist because I'm either expanding or planning my next expansion.
Militaristic because I'm either fighting a war or planning an aggressive one.
Industrious because I'd never dream of doing the above without a decent productive base.

At first I didn't put industrious in there, but that would make it sound like I just war all the time with no thought given to internal development, but that's never the case with me (unless I'm playing the Mongols and am in the mood to replicate history).

Personally, I'm Scientific and Expansionist.

I tend to play best with civilizations that complement, rather than enhance, my individual player traits. I particularly seem to do well with Agricultural and Industrious civs, as they allow me to expand and dominate the science tree the way I want to.

I would guess the very best players play with all different traits depending on the game, its conditions, their opponents, the level, and the civ they play with. I don't belong to this class at this point, at least.

I guess I would say "cultural", but I don't mean religious. I've really liked the 20k victory so far. I also have reallly liked archipelago maps, so I guess searfaring. I've also liked scientific... getting your tech when you want it implies building the wonders you want. So, I guess scientific and searfaring... at least so far. Yes... I have dream about Empress Theodora every night... lol. Although, lately I've started liking lots of cities and fast growth. So, I guess agricultural more so now. I've also started using trading a lot more, so commerical more so now I guess. I do like industrious and I do like to build lots and lots of city improvements, but I'd put this lower. Expansionist and militaristic I still don't quite like so much... all that blood... all those deaths... except for barbarians.

I'm agricultural + industrious. I'm all about rapid growth and rapid improvement of tiles that are used because of the growth.

I haven't played in so Civ in so long that I don't remember which civ these traits correspond to.

That would be the mighty Maya, one of the top tribes in the game. I've always done well playing as them.

I think the best way to figure out my answer is not what I like to use when I'm playing at my best, but by looking at what I can't resist doing when I'm playing poorly.

And the answer is clear; Militaristic.

If I *EVER* see an unguarded city, I will pounce on it. If i see Scouts running around, I will hack them down so as to prevent that civ jumping ahead of me in tech via that scout. I'll build barracks too early. I'll try to archer swarm. And many times I *DO* declare war before I'm really truly ready.

Culture comes second to me. I almost ALWAYS, by default, end up trying to for 20K in my capital city. And if I get those cultural buildings on the cheap, all the better. Science tends to be a priority more than religous buildings (as my idea of happiness is conquering the other guy's spice and silk colonies), so Scientific would probably be my #2.

Ironically, I don't often play as Germany or Japan, and certainly not to completion. Due to my third trait, if I'm allowed one, is most certainly Seafaring. I try to play all civs more or less equally, but I always end up going back to the seafaring civs more than the others, over and over. I guess I really like boats. I do not use my naval units particularly efficiently unless I really put my mind to it, but I really do enjoy that extra movement point on a galley.

So, Militaristic/Seafaring/Scientific I suppose would be my personal three-trait civ. Either the Germans building better boats or the Vikings getting fond of reading books. :)
