Describe your civ 3 play style in terms of traits

What trait best describes taking all day to play five turns?

Slow? :p (10 chars)

Religious for sure, as in religious devotion to Civ. Not sure what the best second trait would be. Organized from Civ4 seems to fit perfectly, but of the Civ3 ones, that's a tough choice.

Now that the fighting is over, and the bulk of the worker turns are done, I reckon I can manage five turns in half an hour.

Since it's all about fighting and working, I think Miltaristic and Industrious describes it best.

I think I'm Industrious and Commercial.

I generally fight wars only on my closest neighbor at the beginning of the game. After that I tend to go into a shell and just try and win the space race or some other non-military victory. Not sure why, I just like to build things in my cities and it seems like such a waste to build military units when I could be building xx.

Are you french? They are Ind/Com. Also, the musketeer is good for a builder type.

expansionist-commercial (anyone ever played hittites?)
or
scientific-commercial (alexander ftw)
or
expansionist-scientific (gosh! katherine!)

but now im playing as dutch, and it goes very well. dutch seems to be very strong civ ;)

I have no idea why, But I have a ton of trouble when I play the French. I keep trying to start French since they should be perfect for my play style.

The French are a little difficult to play as, but the rewards can be very good. Industrious means faster workers, so you can make less of them, which helps support. Commercial means slightly less corruption and higher commerce, but it doesn't kick in early. France is great for a space, diplomatic, or cultural, as they really shine in the industrial and modern eras.

Thanks, maybe I'll back up one play them on the Regent level then try moving back up.

The first time I tried to play as the French it was a complete disaster. My archers couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and I ended the game in disgust.

At some point, someone suggested that the French were a good Civ for a new Regent player so I tried them and they really do shine there. That cash flow - when it kicks in - is very nice and the industrious workers allow for faster growth and expansion.

Sci / Ind. I like lots of cities with all the newest toys and shiny gadgets.

Having said that, I'm currently trying a 10% sci, no Great Wonders game to force me to play a military game. Any suggestions for which civ to use?

India can be a terrific military power, and not only do the war elephants have an extra hp, they require no resources. The only better knight level unit is the rider, extra movement is alway great. Which brings me to another terrific tribe for the war-monger, China. Industrious has obvious advantages, but Militaristic has subtle benefits for the war-monger, such as half-priced barracks, more leaders, and military wonders are cheaper. Either one would be a great choice.

You have a point there, I have always assumed that wonders that match a trait were discounted for those with that trait, but there is nothing to back that up. I amend that sentence to say that Military wonders can launch a GA if combined with a wonder matching the other trait.

Good

:p

. . . . I have always assumed that wonders that match a trait were discounted for those with that trait, . . . .
I thought that might be your reasoning, but when I saw the sentence, I couldn't remember ever seeing anyone else mention discounted wonders. Geez, if that were the case, wouldn't that mean that the Aztecs would get the Pyramids and Sun Tzu's at 1/2 price?!?

Sometimes it seems they get half-priced wonders! You ever notice that Egypt or the Incas almost always get the Pyramids, if they are on the board? It can be good if you are a nearby, and shall we say, acquisitive neighbor:lol:

About the half-price wonders; In the booklet that came with my C3C disc, it describes the new traits saying that seafaring wonders are cheaper for seafaring civs etc., but when I asked (in quick answers, I think) if it was true, and appled to other traits, the consensus was "no".
