Destorying a rivial SpaceShip

Hello,

I have been playing CIV 4 since it came out and I have decided instead of losing another game to a spacerace I need to destory another nation's spaceship.

I know in Civ 3 there was a way to do it but I don't know about Civ 4. Can I Nuke a rivals citys and destory it ? Or can I capture a city to stop the launch ?

Is there a way to help me.

You can destroy ss components being constructed in cities with your spies. This will cost you an arm and a leg though.
Some people suggest that if you declare war on too fast competetor that will slow down his building pace (because he now has to build units to fight you and any allies you brought), and you may outrun him.

In Civ 2, you didn't build your space ship to a required number of pieces. You could actually have different sizes and designs (although you needed some base components for all...like life support, and engines) Depending on how well it would built (fuel and engines and overall weight) then it would take varing amount of years to get there...and a certain % of success. The trip would also take between 15 and 40 years (ish). So, building the components would not win the game, you had to actually launch the ship and have it land successfully.

You could crash and enemy ship, by taking their capital, and (I'm assuming here) to remotely alter the ships course to get a close up of that black hole.

I would REALLY like to see that back in the game. I hate the instant win, and cookie cutter space ship that everyone has.

In civ III you could destroy the spaceship platform, but for some reason, all the Space Ship parts would remain untouched, they just get put into some kind of phantom reserve. So you could never destroy them. I guess this was done so people could'nt exploit the race too much. They didnt want someone to simply just kill the platforum when one piece was left, then force the AI to restart all over again.

The ship likely was not built on ground. What good would a space elevator do uless ship was constructed at orbit?
