This event came up in my latest Sheaim game. Is it a quest? Do I have a choice not to destroy it? I don't even know where the pyre is lol

I am reasonably certain it is just a prompt, urging you to go and destroy it. Don't think there are any results of doing or not doing so. And if you do destroy the Pyre (even without ever getting that pop-up telling you to do so) it spawns a couple of Barbarian Fire Elementals who begin tearing up the area.

I like the Pyre. I see no reason to destroy a cool fire temple :)

How exactly do you destroy it? From what I have seen, every one of the new terrain items is invuln- as well as look out towers which is unbelievably irritating. The idea you have to wait for it to become a castle before it is destructible is ridiculous.

Actually, in one of my games the Pyre was in my territory (in my capital's FC, actually), and a worker was able to build a farm over it with no ill effects, reverting the square back to a fire node with a farm on it (I'll bet those soybeans tasted kind of funky, what with being seasoned by raw fire mana and the souls of sacrificed angels). The code might need to be adjusted so that the fire elementals still chillin' at the altar with Bhall get just as ornery when a farmer tries to turn their home into a field of nicely tilled crops.

They used to be, but now some unique features (Pyre of the Seraphic, Broken Sepulcher) can be razed. I think Kael said Ancient Towers may be pillagible in the next version too.

Although, be careful when you raze the pyre of the seraphic because if you do it too early, the barbarian fire elementals can and will (if given the chance) kill you. This happened to one AI player in a previous game while they still had only one city.

I've only done this once--with a half dead unit stranded in the middle of enemy teritory. He was going to die anyway, so I figured he might as well use the Pyre to bring some centaurs with him.

I imagine Charadon wouldn't particularly mind if a few Fire Elementals were running rampant through his territory. Ironically enough, neither would the Clan of Embers.

Uh....synonyms.
Once I razed it in DEEP foreign territory in the early game when it was placed near water on creation map. I pillage, and send my scouting unit out to sea, get a golden age and watch as the fire elementals....well, they didn't really do much to the neighbouring civs, as it was really barbed territory.

The Broken Sepulcher was actually razed automatically in my last game, when I sent an army to kill Barbatos.

Oh, I remember that quest! It was the very first quest I got when playing FFH for the first time! Haha, the Pyre was literally 5 tiles away from my capital city. Being an innocent noob, I razed it with the Doviello warrior equivalent (all while being in a war with a distant civ) and poof, the fire elementals ripped up my lands and killed almost everyone. I was still fighting a survival battle by the time my golden age was over.

I did win the game though, the fire elementals weakened all the all the other civs on the same continent enough for me to finish them. I bagged the whole continent and won my first victory, a religious one, by making OO Cultists walk over to the only other inhabited continent.

Ah.. good times :P
