Some email systems don't like receiving attachments. I can't remember if AOL is one of those, but just in case it is, I sent you two emails, one with an attachment and one without. You can ignore the attachment, it is just a save from one of my personal games, for testing purposes.

If this turns out to be the problem we can dig into what needs to be done to let you receive attachments.

Update: Got this back from AOL:

Sorry dshack85705@netscape.net. Your mail to the following recipients could not be delivered because they are not accepting mail with attachments or embedded images:
wizatmath

Yeah, I got the one with jsut the text, but not the one with the attachments. I'll try to fix this later, but I have to catch the bus in 5 minutes. Sorry for the delay... :(

I got it! Resend the save, blackheart, and once again, sorry for the delay.

Well, all email problems so far has taken place in America and Netherlands, where Australia and Scandinavia goes clean.

Very impressed by America, the pioneers of ARPA Net, the inventors of emails and the smiley, then WWW and now Demogame, and PbEMs. I wonder when you figure out your emails.

They're using FREE email services like me and you, so what do you expect?

Okay I just got a forward from donovan, even though it was sent 7 hours ago... I think hotmail has too loaded of servers, so it take sawhile for you to actually get the email in your inbox.... I will play it first thing tomorrow after school....

I agree with MOTH. Watching this PBEM unfold would certainly be fun if the players postded mini-summaries. Not that the email confusion hasn't been entertaining.

It seems like it will take forever to get to me.

The email delays are pretty weird, I've never seen that kind of response time under normal circumstances. It makes memories of DARPAnet, SciNet, and UUNet look pretty good -- at least then you knew that hitting "send" meant the recipient would (usually) get the message. ;) Heck, even CompuServe was pretty reliable.

Once we get past all the startup problems of spam filters, attachment blocks, and other technical glitches, it should run smoothly, at least for the email part. Then we'll only have to deal with all our RL schedules :crazyeye:.

I tried to suggest alternating US and Other so that we'd be looking at ~12 hour gaps until the next player's available time instead of 24 hours or more, without success.

3950 BC

Provolutia Auropolis was settled on the hill overlooking the frothing waves of the Prolific, the 10 000 city dwellers of this ideal city state realized they were rich beyond imagination for their time. They could also see bountiful grasslands, other major hills, forests and a distant Northern Mountain. Provolutia Auropolis even introduced some new herb, they began to smoke with rolled leaves. In gilded urban environments, with the fresh sea breeze from the East and with a smoke, can you really complain ?
