Did they fix that gpt bug in 1.29f

I didn't think it was a bug. Since it was related to your current Reputation. If you have done bad things or had bad things done to you recently the AI's will refuse to accept gpt until you clean up your rep some.

Well its a bug when you offer 200 gold and the advisor says its close to a deal but offer 200 gold plus 20gpt and he would be insulted ????

What was your reputation ? because if you have a reputation for breaking deals they AI will refuse any gpt or luxury deal since they will have a low chance of actually using or receiving there full payment.

Of course it goes the opposite way ! When you give 200 gold, the AI is 100% certain he'll have it. When you give 200+20 gpt, the AI is like, "woooow wait a minute here, he's offering me gpt and he's got a bad reputation ? He'll try to screw me on that deal !"
All the Ai sees is the possible rip-off, not the possible gain.

But I agree it is strange to see the AI becoming furious when you've got the FEELING you're offering more. :)

I dont understand that comment.

In both cases the Ai gets the 200gp upfront.

The second case you are giving it just a little more,
even if the AI thinks you are going to break it, it should at
the minimum stay the same. :)

They could have also severely discounted the gpt component for a bad reputation.

I not even sure whether they did this :) This whole area was a disaster and has been well documented in many previous threads
relating to gpt deals

Yeah, I was a bit pushy on the "of course" comment :)

In fact I had the same reaction first time an AI got angry when I was offering more, but the explanation satisfies me. But that's me... Obviously you're not satisfied :)

My question is then.. if he was willing to take the straight 200gp, why would you offer them more money for no reason ?

That is the part i don't understand.

Naaah, he was 'close to a deal'
Hey maybe that's the whole point !
Suppose the AI wants 210. You give him 200, it is 'close to a deal'.
Now if you give him 200 + 20 GPT, AND have a bad reputation, the AI KNOWS it will only get 200... And so it becomes angry. Because it wants 210.

Is that a better explanation, JFL_dragon ? :)

No the Ai is not willing to accept that 200gp.

The AI says its close to a deal. So you offer a little more
and the AI would never accept such a deal. It just not
logical in my own opinion.

If I was selling something for $210, and one of my dodgy friends offered me $200 and I said no. And he said how about $200 now and $50 next week, I would most likely accept, but my opinion
would become worse.

i feel reputation is useless, since those psycho AIs may join up a MMP and attack u. Therefore, even if u didn't do bad thing(in human common sense) your relation with other empires will go down..eventually

concerning the gpt bug, i never experience it because i never pay gpt, but instead lump sum.

Sorry bout the confusion there JFL.. i missed the "close to" part.. i really need to learn how to read :(

Hey JFL I hate to repeat myself but I found an explanation that seems really plausible for why it gets angry...

Suppose the AI wants 210. You give him 200, it is 'close to a deal'.
Now if you give him 200 + 20 GPT, AND have a bad reputation, the AI KNOWS it will only get 200... And so it becomes angry. Because it wants 210.

No ? :)

Ok in that case the gpt is discounted by 100% to zero for a bad reputation. You really have too screw up your credit rating really
badly for a bank to discount your cashflow by 100%:)

JFL, stupid question, but you do have the 20 gpt to trade to them. If you're only making 15 gpt and offer them 20 gpt, they won't accept it even if you include your whole civ. Because they know you're offering them 5 gpt you don't have.

rangers85.. the game wont allow you to trade more then your are making at that time.
