or is it just me? but iseems that the birds eye view of the city is no longer there.........

Or the palace...
That wouldn't make any sense! They have images of them in the editor and in the civilopedia!

The Aerial View doesn't work for any of the scenarios.

Also, the Palace won't give pop ups in the scenarios, but it may be accessed using F9.

The City View and the guy with the hammer were removed from the Conquests as uneeded distractions. The Palace View is still there, but you don't get the popups, you have to click the P tab or F9 to see it or add "pieces" to it.

Both are available in the Epic game, but the new Civilization III: Conquests Wonders and buildings don't show.

These were deliberate decisions by the developers, but perhaps if enough people voice strong opinions about it, they will add it in a future patch.

these decisions are dumb....instead of adding stuff we going removing stuff now just to avoid coding?

Nothing was removed; they just didn't add something that you expected would be there. Limitations within the basic setup of Civ3 make it difficult to expand the aerial view, because of the way the game was initially coded (much like the hardcoded limit of 32 civs total.) Changing that structure to allow new wonders would be a massive undertaking, which would take a lot of time and money best spent on expanding the game in other ways.

Given that most players spend maybe 90 seconds out of a 5+ hour game looking at the aerial view, it has always been a luxury, not a necessity of the game. Personally, I'm happy that they didn't waste an inordinate amount of time on it; the changes to the functionality of the game and adding new art that is regularly seen (leaders, units, etc.) is far more important.

Like I said before, now that Atari/firaxis can't be bothered to add ariel view city graphics it makes me feel better when I add wonders and they can't show up on city view.

When I get conquests I am going to mod about 15 wonders into the game, I did a really good mod for PTW with wonders and govs but with the new features of conquests I can get better results. Like a theocracy gov that has the xenophobic tag because it removes other religions from the city...:)

A lot of decisions like this come down to time and money (this applies to any commercial software project). There was a fixed budget and schedule given to Breakaway and Firaxis to do this project. They decided that other things gave more bang for the buck.

Birds-eye view is totally useless anyway, its an interessting concept but the way it woks atm its just depressive, devs need to put some time into that function for it to be interessting and since theres so many other things that are more important (which they seem to have understood seeing the new wonders arent in) I doubt it will be done anytime soon. I mean, its not like a city would look anything like it does in Birds-eye view.

Can bird's eye view work for scenarios you make?

Really? I can't find the city view or palac anywhere, in any game.

Once again, they're not there for the Conquests. If you play an Epic (ie Random-map or "full") game, you can access the city view by either pressing F9 or the P tab on the right of the info box. You should also see the "eye" on the city view screen of Epic games, but buildings and Wonders added for the Conquests expansion will not show.

ah... okay, I was playing a scenario (not a conquest). Right, they appear in the regular game. Thanks!
