First off I want to apologize in advance if this is no the correct place for this message. I was looking for a general discussion forum that wasn't linked to a game but couldn't find one.

I'm looking for something that would explain the differences between each of the Civilization games. I honestly don't think this exists as I've not been able to find anything. What I'm looking for is something that says here are the changes that each civilization game made over the previous game. Like what were the changes from Civ 2 over Civ, graphics aside. I'm looking for more game play changes than visuals.

From memory. Some changes were in expansions, though.
Civ2: mostly graphics, but also the game was made moddable.
Civ 2 ToT: Ability to have up to 4 layers of maps. This was ditched in subsequent games.
Civ 3: Unique units. Strategic resources, rivers in-between tiles. Culture, great people. No longer any caravan, diplomat, and democracies let you go to war. Artillery bombing.
Civ 4: Unique buildings, leader traits, religion. Even more moddable. As in, really more. Cottages growing on the map, great people farms. Corporations. Artillery suicide squads.
Civ 5: Hex map, 1 upt, even worse ai than before. Leaders are even more differentiated. City states. Obscure diplomacy. Less mod-friendly. Bad MP.
Civ 6: Mostly takes all the features from 5 with expansions but a bit differently.

Civ3 had different victories.
Civ4 had civics.
Leader traits were in Civ3, Great People technically were in Civ3 but the real system started in Civ4, some civs got Unique Improvements in Civ5.
For Civ6 I would add the districts system, civic tree, governments and policies, religious victory.

civ 3: crippling corruption because of distance from the capital.
Worst incarnation of this franchise.
