Really this is a pretty generic question, what are the differences in Civ IV and Civ: Revolution? Civilizations, techs, map size, features... what's been changed to accomodate the console?

pretty much everything...i definitely don't mind that it's a totally different game, but its no way as deep or complex as Civ4.

-Civ4 actually has worker units that you can automate or control yourself to build terrain improvements and roads.

-Obviously the map sizes are limited to one size in CivRev. in Civ4 you have your choice of a few. And you could control who your opponent civ's were, and how many you wanted. You could also control the overall terrain of your world (tropical, arid, temperate, lots of land, lots of oceans, one big continent or a bunch of little islands, etc.)

-The diplomacy is more in depth in civ4.

-Civics and religion are a big thing that Civ4 has that CivRev doesn't.

There are some more, but I can't think of 'em right now.

- A lot more customization, you can change map sizes, number of opponents, different types of maps, game length... also in general the games take longer
- The AI is not extremely aggressive, (unless you select a specific setting) you can form friendships and alliances (often around religion), also each AI leader has a specific personality, it isn't always "you vs. AI" like it is in rev
- Fighting is different... not entirely sure how it works in revolution but there are no armies, you just make large stacks of mixed units, you can see your combat odds of each fight before attacking cities
- Leader traits tend to be more subtle, no extremes, also unique units and buildings (are those in rev?), also most world wonders are toned down (and upgrading units can be done anytime but costs money, it isn't tied to a wonder)
- government civics are completely different, also no anti-war governments that prevent fighting

You can play a game of Civ Rev, and be into the 1900's in a few hours.... Civ IV is like taking a part-time job.
