What are benefits for deleting old big files excluding faster mod download time?

I presume that every file take some space in memory. Less files and smaller ones = better.

Ok new songs for Europe Middle, Asian Early and Middle East Early
If everything will be ok then in weekend I want to put them in SVN and make some cleaning in Diplomacy Music directory.
