There was a similar discussion a few years ago in the Civ5 Tech Support forums:

I was wondering if is an intended feature, bug, or whatever, about Civilization: Beyond Earth.... If I'm trying to trade THEIR 3 science for 444 credits or so, I can't simply edit the amount... it takes about 15 minutes of offering and counter offering all these ridiculous deals to come up with that price or so, by overshooting it to 1500+ and slowly working down a few credits at a time... if you pass the amount, you have to start all over again. sigh. She was accepting exactly 148 credits per science (per 45 turns).
it'd be nice to not waste all that time, for all the various learning curves.
