When I play with more than 8 civs I can only see 8 on my Diplomacy screen. How do I see the other ones? (on Mac of course) This problem has kept me from playing bigger games...I play harder levels instead but i would like to try a game with 16 civs or whatever the limit is.

Shift right click, or shift-control click on one of the eight you can see. This should bring up a menu a little way up and left from your cursor and you can choose one of the hidden ones to put in place of the one you clicked. You can only ever see eight at one time, but by doing this you get to choose which eight

It's a real pain. At higher levels you have to circulate every turn to take advantage of trading opportunities as they arrive, and it takes forever. Ainwood has produced a utility for PeeCees to read the Autosaves in the background and monitor the AI civs techs, luxuries, cash and workers for sale, and flag up changes. I've run it successfully on an old PC networked to my Mac while playing, but I'd like to produce a version to run on the Mac. Only problem is producing the alerts. I'll probably do it with sound as Civ3 won't allow another application to display over the top of it unless you pause. Pausing each turn would still be less panful than the current process though.

One tip: Always leave something on the table with each civ - gold or a tech or whatever. That way when you click each face in F4 you get straight back to the table and bypass the "Hello" screen.
