I don't know if this happens to anybody else, and I know the solution is probably really obvious, but sometimes I will meet a leader by clicking on one of their units in my territory, but their face doesn't show up in my diplomacy window, meaning if I want to talk to them I have to hunt down one of their units. Any ideas?

Also, do you need conquests to get that little window that says how much landmass, population etc you have? Because I don't know how many times I've gone for a domination victory and found out I was one or two percent short of the required territory.

You do need Conquests for the Victory Condition screen

You can access diplomacy by doing Shft-D (as long as your not currently conroling a worker), F4, the foriegn advisor screen. Double click the leaderheads. DOuble click an AI unit. Select "Take me to your leader"

How many civs are in your game? If you have more than seven opponents, they will not all show in the diplomacy screen at once. Shift-rightclick on one of the heads on the screen and it will let you change it to another.

Also, you can view the demographics of the world (the land mass, population, GNP, etc) by pressing F11 in any version of civ.

Thanks a lot for all the tips, especially the F11 thing. I didn't know that.

But what I mean is this: Today I was playing a Monarch game as China. I ran into the Zulus and clicked on their unit for the "take me to your leader" thing. Shaka appeared in my diplomacy window. Later I ran into the English, clicked on their unit, but guess what? After my convo with Lizzy she remained absent from my diplomacy window.

So instead of seeing Lizzy (in her milk bath, snort), you just see a blank disc? Try Shift-rightclick on a blank disc.
