Didn't know where else I should post this. The "Other Games" section seems to focus on video games rather than board games.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else was a fan of this game and if there would be any interest in playing a game?

For those wondering what it is check out the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy_(game)

Mostly you just need to know that it's awesome though :P

I've heard of it, sounds fun! But it should go to the other games section.

Well like I said, I wasn't too sure about where to put it. The only other thread I could find about board games was this one: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=337579

which is also in this section of the forums. The Other Games section seemed to be entirely about other video games, though admittedly I didn't look for more than a minute. If this does belong in the Other Games section I apologise and request a mod moves it to that section of the forums.

That being said, would you be interested in a game Skwink Caesar? If so we just need five more :D

Yes, this game has a bit of a following among cfcers. There's a PBF (Play-By-Forum?) game going on over in the Never Ending Stories subforum, though it appears to have since died out :(

This is a great game, but it's much better face-to-face.

@Owen

Thanks for the information, it's too bad it didn't make it all the way through.

@Dachs

While very fun face-to-face, it's difficult to find 7 players who are willing to commit a few hours to a board game, at least for me. That's why a game over forums or e-mail works out so well, you can play it out over a number of months at the pace everyone is willing to play at.

@Skwink

I haven't seen that site yet I'll have to check it out. I have an account at diplomaticcorp.com (if you sign up there, we are only short two players for the next game, game ID is re001). Best way to learn is to play it by the way :)

So is there any interest among those responding in this thread? If all there of you are up for a game we only need three more!

Yeah, it's very difficult, but the experience is extremely rewarding.

I have difficulty maintaining interest in PBEM or forum-based Diplomacy, so I'll abstain from a game if you guys are having one.

I find this to be true of all board games. Actually all games (video/computer games are better if your opponent is with you).

I've never played Diplomacy, I'd probably like it though.

@Dachs

Fair enough and I appreciate that you didn't sign up only to disappear later.

@Narz

Would you be interested in a game then? :)

No thanks Mathew, it's hard for me to get excited about online games these days & also it's hard to predict I'll have enough free time to fully participate. Good luck though!

Therer used to be a few pretty good dip players around here and we played a few pbem games. iirc Flatlander Fox was pretty much the leader of the Dip group.

I quite like Diplomacy and would be up for a forum based game. Haven't played in years though, and even then I was a rank amateur. But if you're wanting a game and need help filling out the numbers...

It's all good, I'm no expert by any means and haven't actually played a game in about two years (the last time I managed to gather seven people at my house for a couple hours lol). I'll put up a list in my first post of people who want to play!

There have been a couple of Diplomacy games in the 'forum games' section before, and you'd probably find a few more people willing to play there (or you could PM some of the people involved in those previous games to see if they're interested).

@Owen, Dachs, Narz, col- there's still two spots up for grabs (Mathew, Lord Iggy, choxorn, Stuck in Pi and myself have the other five at the moment). Interested in playing?
