Direct IP multiplayer issue

Hello,

Im having an issue playing direct IP with a friend of mine, he has the MAC version of Civ 4 and I have the Windows Gold version of Civ 4 and when we try to play the game says the two are not compatible, however arent they the same game?....is there any way to fix this. Since im asking that question, ill ask another. How do you access the city view screen(the screen that views the city close up)

I remember in Alpha Centauri that MAC could interface with PC games for the email game option.

perhaps this was not offered for Civ4
