DirectX 9.0 finally released

"This is an unsupported Pre-Release version of DirectX 9.0 and may contain bugs or issues that prevent correct operation of DirectX applications."

Go on folks, go get it.

Be sure to notice this little paragraph here, too!

The DirectX 9.0 runtime cannot be uninstalled. We recommend Windows Millennium and XP users create a “System Restore” point before installing.

Also, the only graphic cards that support DX9´s additional features are the Radeon 9500 and 9700 as well as the newest GeForce, released a few weeks ago. For both cards you need specialized BETA drivers to enable those feature.

So go on, get it! :p
:D

yippee! another microsoft product to screw up my system.

V9.0 unsupported - i would bother with it, im gonna wait till it is realeased properly, and least then when the inevitable happens and i have to reinstall everything all I can get help.

i hate microsoft & their unfinished, unstable, bug-ridden programs, like Windows 3.x-XP

soryy, just venting some anger ;)

It's not a pre-release version. It is the first release version. Like all versions of DirectX though it can't be removed. I here that MS games coming out in January (Impossible Creatures) will install it automatically.

Well, I've been using it for the past week and a half, and I have had no problems whatsoever.

But really though, if it ain't broke don't fix it. That's my advice to you skeptics out there. Wait a few months and see how testers and other people are doing with DX9 and make sure it is absolutely stable before installing it.

I'm still using 30.82 Detonator Drivers for my GeForce 3 Ti200 card , because their new 40.xx drivers are horrid for my card. Just proves that not everything new is reliable.

DirextX CAN be removed. There are programs that can do it. DirextX Eradicator for example.
