Disabling Intro

Is there a command line parameter or an .ini setting that disables the 2K Games and Firaxis movies that play whenever the game is loaded?

I bet if you rename the folder $\Assets\Art\Movies\intros to something else (I usually shove an underscore at the end) that'll prevent Civ4 from loading them.

I use a similar renaming trick to stop Civ4 playing the background soundtrack mp3s as I still wish to hear the diplomacy music & the music that's played when zoomed into cities.

Nope. That doesn't work. It just gives you pop-ups telling you that your intro movies aren't installed correctly.

In your CivilizationIV.ini file, make the following change:
; Set to 1 for no in-game movies
NoMovies = 1
