I saw a post that suggested that turning off all the sound may help those of us whose games crash whenever attempting diplomacy -- in my games I have dreaded talking to civ's because of this problem. Anyway, I have done so in my current game, and while it definitely lacks something (although now I can listen to whatever MP3 I want!) it seems to be working... so far...
