Hi everyone

Bearing in mind that I always play Monarchy (as I am rubbish at the others) how do I make my discoveries come quicker. Does it help if I have a library in all my cities?

Yes. And university also. Superhighways and research lab (or SETI wonder) will do to. Also do a lot of trade. Every gold you get from a delivery is the same amount of beakers you get...so with enough caravan/freight deliveries you can get a tech every turn.

Another thing you can do is ramp up your luxuries for a turn and get your cities celebrating. Do this when you are delivering caravans/freight. Celebrating Monarchy gives an extra trade arrow per tile as per Republic and Democracy. With more trade arrows in your cities you get bigger payouts in gold and science for trade deliveries.

If you use a Super Science City you may be able to get it celebrating at a sustainable level of luxuries (especially if it has Shakespeare's Theater) and get the extra trade for that city on an ongoing basis.

Do you at least go into communism when it becomes available? It is basically Monarchy on steroids.

Yeah, I used to be a Monarchy -> Communism -> Fundamentalism player.

But then I realized that the Republic and Democracy give trade bonuses.
