DISCUSSION III:The New World, (Jointed With the FA Dept.)

Citizens and Soldiers,

The Minister of the FA Dept. has brought to my attention the need for a joint thread by our two Ministery's to adress the newest needs of our Nation; The New World. The FA Dept. has made it clear that their intentions are to find, make contact with, and be-friend the inhabitants of the New World. This is where the Defese Ministery comes in. It's our job to see to it that the FA Dept. can MEET these goals and needs. By looking at the world map it seems to me that Persia has laready founded a city i nthe New World, in the far North.

There it is in the Far North. We have a second Galley due soon and I propose that we use that to follow the footsteps of our first galley, (Currently waiting to provoke Germany into War on their coastline.) Our second Galley will follow our First along the German coast looking for the New World, it could even be that the Germans, like the Persians have established a city there already, we simply don't know. Which is why we need to find out.

The ideal Cargo for the Expedition would of course be two Hoplites, although slop they'll stay there in case everything goes to the dumper. Or another option would be a Hoplite and Horseman, or simply Two Horseman for exploration purposes only. But the fact is I can't let the Troops board the ships, with the up-coming German War we need every single Man and Soldier that we have, I can't afford to send them on a perilous expedition.

Now there's also the chance that the New Wolrd is some ways off from East Germany, in that case we'll have to sail all the way Up to Persia and start exploration from there. I really hope we can get there sooner as when and IF we do decide to start an Operation on New World the Logistics will be ten times easier.

I fully support the Naval Exploration but am agaisnt the fact of putting troops on baord for land exploration, I won't give up my men to this but will gladly offer a Galley to the FA Dept. for exploration purposes, becasue we're planning a land war agaisnt German yand don't need it yet. The FA can have the Galley but not the troops. Other than that I'm fully in support of Minister Greekguy's plan to find and explore the New World.

i also think a naval expidition would be ideal, right now (with the impending war on germany) a land expedition would be to much

of course making new friends is always key, but persia might have taken a lot of the contact value via trading (though i doubt it)

First, I would like to thank Minister Ranger99 for his support of New World exploration. Now, let's get down to business...

I don't think our esteemed Defense Minister is quite right in one regard to the operation. To him, it appears that Persia has already founded a city in the new world. However, I have to disagree. From careful study of maps and such, I believe that where Persia has founded their new city is NOT the New World. Rather it is probably a small island, or an extension of the current continent we reside on. Since we don't know the German eastern borders, we can't be sure if our continent ends with the German heartland.

I would like our second galley to sail west, from a starting point of Styx. I think the New World is to the West of us. I know that the brave sailors would then have to sail in uncharted, deep ocean waters, but we must take the risk. We must find the new world, discover the nations that reside their, and start friendly relations with them all.

West? France lies to our west...But I HAVE granted you the Galley to work with it's officially yours to do the FA Dept. bidding and work, if you feel that west is the way to go, WEST it is!

Minister Ranger99, maybe a few pictures will clear things up. Due to the last turnchat, we have apparently lost our southern galley. That isn't that big of a deal, since we can always build another. Now let me explain why west. First a picture:

As you can see from the picture, I want to go straight West from Styx. Not towards France. I believe the new continent lies straight west of our land.

Also, due to our Northern Galley exploration, we've found that the new Persian city is NOT on the new world, rather an island Northeast of our continent. Here's a picture to show the "mistaken" new world:

I now thank you for giving me command of our next galley. I will use is to serve the best interests of Fanatikos.

I'm a little concerned that our brave sailors who would make Styx their home during training might be on a one-way trip to a watery grave. Is this voyage a very high priority to offset the potential sacrifice? Maybe we can discover some technology which allows us to improve their safety before setting off on this dangerous trip across open waters.
