Well, there are plenty of other music threads around, so I figured I would start one. I just recently got the CD "The Sickness" by Disturbed. It is very good, IHMO. Has anyone else here heard Disturbed?

As opposed to corporate old Metal.... Face it, popular entertainers are almost always fabulously wealthy. This makes certain groups *cough*Rage Against the Machine*cough* rather hypocritical, but in general musical groups exploit us all through merchandizing and expensive CD sales. The studios are getting even richer. Music is, however, one of those things I just can't do without.

disturbed is in it for the money

Damn straight Curt! Real metal all the way!

I listen to punk, nothing like a bunch of guys in their garage or some crappy bar playing their music knowing that they are barely making ends meet but keep playing because they love the music, not the money

Hmm, I liked them a couple of years back but ultimately it is corp nu-crap. I went to see them live and the guy sounds ****. He made his entry like Hannibal Lecter, strapped to a upright stretcher. What kind of a nob head does that? Trust me the music sounds ok for a while and then you just can't be arsed to listen to it. Take my advice and listen to something with more meaning, much better vocals and great videos...TOOL.

I really struggle to believe the number of people who dig the "i'm really angry... grrr" nu metal hegemony which our dear record labels are providing us with. There's plenty of decent stuff about if you just ignore the pop metal that's rammed down your throat.

I have too have little time for manufactured bands of any sort! Music has gone downhill in the last 5 years or so with record companies pumping out crap and people with no taste lapping it up!

Only a few bands are still good and they are mostly British;)

i think it's a common misconception to say that "music now is crap". It's always been the same, some good, some bad. It just happens that the singles charts at the moment are dominated by the purchasing power of the tweenager. There are plenty of good records around, and you don't even have to dig that hard at all. Go buy the new Queen's of the Stone Age album if you want some modern relatively alt rock, and try to catch one of their shows.

btw anarchy, i saw axl rose at leeds. boy can he still whine impressively. :p

WOW! You went to the festival! I am jealous:cry: A group of us wanted to go but couldn't get the money scraped together. :(

But i did hear it on the radio, so it wasn't to bad :)

yeah, it was a good laugh. However, probably shouldn't go into it too much for risk of jacking this lovely nu metal thread.

Disturbed is good, i like them. I like their new single from their new album, "Prayer" is the single. Its rockin

Disturbed you say? It sounds... er... well, disturbed...

...:D

who gives a **** if the bands "corporate"or not. If you like them thenyou like them.

Vengeance, Right on, TOOL AKA the best band in the world :). I can honestly listen to them for hours and hours and weeks and weeks and i don't get tired of it. Their concert here in Vancouver kicked major ass. Those contortionists they use rock. I still remember that concert, it ended with them playing lateralus, such a kicking song.
