Do I really need Hardware Transform and Lighting???

i don't even hear positive hints from beta testers saying it might be possible so i wouldn't hold your breath - or your wallet.

Well, I dont plan on buying it mainly because of a few reasons:
1. Lack of income (Unemployed, relying on parents for income and most of that goes into my gas tank)
2. The system requierments
3. Lost interest in playing Civ

T&L is bare minimum, cards without shader support will suck because shaders add nice details (such as water shadow in pirates)

next time don't buy intel graphics!

Personaly, I dont care about details (Exception in Microsoft Train Simulator, but my computer exceeds the requierments for that game ;) )

I checked the System Requierments on Call of Duty and it required T&L but I played it fine without it :hmm:.

Well, that's a perfect storm of bad luck!

could someone tell me why exactly a computer will run slow when it doesn't have hardware t&l but has, lets say 768 mb of ram. Would 768 mb of ram be enough to run the t&l and game. (This is hypothetically of course if the game let hard. t and l work on ram). Some one HELP!!!

Heh, my video card doesn't support that either apparently. I'm not worried though, my computer ran Pirates! without a problem. Hell, I run half-life 2 on medium settings. It'll probably run CivIV without a problem too.

In a word, bottlenecks.

The video card with T&L is dedicated to the purpose. If the processing has to travel to your RAM and then back to the processor, there is a "traffic jam" of data (this is purposefully simplistic--please no one criticize me :D )

Just found out my PC can handle the game, thank goodness. My graphics card is a 128MB ATI Raedon All in Wonder. Not the best thing, but it works.

People, now is not the time to cancel your pre-orders
Luckly I did not pre-ordered it ;).

There is still a chance Civ IV will run without H T&L...
Still does not convince me to revert back to Civ
