When i am playing, i am continuously afraid to to go to the next turn. I keep checking everything, then check if i checked everything, then check everything once more. Then, with shaking hands i press the space bar :D

It's worse when you're not sober and can't remember if you've checked your 100+ cities this turn. :ack:

I don't like the fact that you can't "undo" an order of "do nothing". Often, when I choose to wait until the next turn before attacking a city, I select 'do nothing', only to then realise that my 5 bombers havn't auto-bombarded the city yet. Damn!

I thought you meant accidentally hitting spacebar instead of something like "m" for mine.

The "m" is "higher" than the spacebar, so it is hard to do that. I have hit enter instead of shift though.

In my style of play, going into the next turn prematurely is few and far between, and for the times when I do get a little too hasty I use the reload. I strictly do exactly what I did with making the small adjustment I didn't notice (such as leaving a workman exposed that I never would've left in attack range).

The thing that kills me, but is just as easily rectified, is hitting the blasted "E' key! What I will do to pretty reliably keep the turn from accidentally ending is to keep one unit in a safe place, not being fortified and I will always hit 'W' for that one unit. When that unit is the only one left and I have run out of ideas for the turn I will hit the spacebar. Unfortunately the 'W' is right next to the 'E' (explore) on the keyboard. It almost makes it even worse that it doesn't happen but like once every other day. It just angers me even more that I NEVER use the 'E' key for it's purpose. I wish I could rid myself of it or put it on the pause button.

In the AU mod we took out the 'E' button (or was it the exploration option altogether?) Anyway, I don't think many players use the 'explore' feature and we removed it for the very reason you've outlined.

Most minor invasions and a few riots don't bother me much. I thought this thread was about accidentally hitting spacebar. I think I've done that a few times on turns I wanted to MM something else.

Please forgive us viper, only some of us consider adding something related to the thread more sensible than making another thread about a different seperate key we might despise. :undecide:

One of the things i disliked about PTW is that you can't use Tab to cycle through your units. Tab does absolutely nothing now. In Civ4 I'd like to be able to customise keys. Also, I always use numpad enter to go to the next turn, and always use the left shift key, so the only thing I accidentally hit is CAPS LOCK.

Is that the only thing that's modded in it? Because I might be able to figure out how to mod it myself, but if it there's additional changes to that mod I probably would just opt to live with the standard C3C instead (thanks anyway). It almost seems silly to make a mod with just that taken out of it, but perhaps that's what has been done?

No, there's quite a few changes. I wasn't proposing switching ot it for that reason, just empathizing. You could consider doing it yourself. I'm not sure exactly how, but my shallow experience with editor has led me to conclude it's fairly easy to mod. The only real concern woulkd be whether or not you care about the HoF.

Luckily i never hit any wrong buttons. I think learned to hit the right ones while playing starcraft, a real time strategy game where speed and accuracy is of utter importance. (pro players make over 300 commands per minute)
The only control mistakes i make are when i click a tile on the edge of the map and it starts scrolling just as i click. (the map should only scroll if you actually HIT the edge, not if you get near it IMO)

I also never spacebar units until the very end of my turn and i really don't know anything else to do with them.
I normally don't follow the sequence the AI gives me to control my units. I just select the units in my own order and when the AI tells me to give orders i don't want to, i usually use the w button.

Therefore, i really hope there will be a "pause sequence" button in civ4. I think the automated sequence the way it is now, just like governors, is for newbies :D.
It is good however to be notified of units that have not gotten a command before ending the turn, therefore i would like it not completely removed but possible to pause the sequence (i already posted this in sugestions some time ago, just hoping the developers actually read that)
