so could somebody please verify my findings?

1) you can open a 1.29f save with ptw
2) you can use all ptw features on that save (naming, outpost etc)
3) you can play it. i found no problems

can someone please also play old 1.29f saves to the end and see whether it really works?

another question of course would be in which way the rules have changed and thus some things which we may be used to are changed :-) and maybe in we way we would have to apot our tactics (but we had to do this with every single patch in dg1)

did anybody hear negative reports of playing old civ3 games with ptw anywhere?

I really don't see any reason to switch to PTW for this game. The next one will be another story, as we will not be risking anything.

I advise highly against opening the save file with PTW, I have noticed changes in trade possibilities (one of which Chieftess pointed out in a log file. I had a trade whcih was allowed in PTW, but not in this because of the rep hit we took with Rome being overrun.

I was wondering why I the trades in PTW didn't match the ones posted... Anyways, that is a good pointer Immortal.

If you haven't already guessed I have PTW, and as Plexus said, it is worth every penny.

Also, I favor a switch from vanilla Civ3 next game.

One last thing, a good thing that happens when you install PTW is that your vanilla Civ3 stays there, so you can open plain games with it, ensuring that nothing gets changed even though you have PTW.

NO, I dont have PTW.

I might sometime this month, but even when I do get PTW, I still say stay with vanilla. It is working fine and there is nothing wrong with it.

How many rule changes would there be if we migrated to PTW. If there were like, new units, etc, I would say definitely NO.

I voted no
I am not sure if I ll ever vote yes;)
