Do you like China?

I like China, they are going to take the lead in the world economy in about 50 yrs time or lesser. so its good to be able to understand Chinese language. I also like the TOP management in the CPC as i think they are really concern about the ppl but hate the corrupted everyone else.

Some Mainland Chinese are also not that civil minded so i think they got much to learn about taking care of cleaniness and not spitting in public. North China is better than South China.

I heard Jesus was gay... does that make it true.

And for the record, I actually did hear Jesus was gay, some gay priest or something say he was.

I dont think he was gay. Though, I dont rly care about him either

:joke: ... or is it?

This is from numerous authors in their books.

I plan on visiting China later this year so I will be able to better respond to this then.

From what I have heard from multiple sources is that a westerner visiting China is treated like a King. I can't say that this will always be true, but it sounds like for the most part it is. And it may also depend if you are there by yourself or if you are there as someone's guest. People will stare at you, but it's mostly out of curiousity (since you look so much different than everybody that they see everyday), and not racism.

Can you give us some better examples then? Some good communists? I'm dying to see some.

I consider Gorbachev to be a good one. I also believe Ho Chi Minh was a good one, he worked to unite his country.

and theres me... Though, Im a sarcastic ******* so I probably dont fit the list

Well Deng Xiaoping was pretty good and so was Zhou Enlai. I like China generally, more than many other countries. I don't like many of its people, propably because im exposed to them so often.

I like China. Not awesome 2DeXXXtreme!!!21` or anything but it's alright. I love Hong Kong lots though. :D

Well, seeing as how im not chinese I can honestly say I really, really dont give a crap!

Besides. it would probably hurt the US alot more then it would hurt China if the nations cut off trade and what not.
You obviously don't know jack squat about Sino-US relations, or how our trade policy is set up. 21.4% of their exports come to the United States - 4.6% of our exports was imported by China. If we stop trading with each other, the US has to find new markets for 1/20 of our goods - China has to find a new market for one fifth of their goods. Considering a lot of what we export is stuff like cars, and electronics and the like, and what they export is bouncy balls, McDonalds toys and brassieres, (And they're already exporting more of those things than they're supposed to) I imagine we could find new markets for our goods a lot easier than China could.

If the US and China stopped trading, we would both get screwed, but China worse than the US. That's empirically obvious just based on trade numbers. Stop allowing your hatred of the US and bias towards communism to cloud your mind.

I'm from the south I personally disagree with you. In my eyes, Southerners may speak funny accents, but they're slightly less politically bound and more liberal on social values, for example, the university I graduated recently establishes the first organization (Rainbow Club) for homosexual students in China, and it's deep in the south.

The top management only did very good PR jobs across the globe, as a citizen, I don't think too highly of them, they're mediocre administrators IMHO. We're not US, we can't afford Bush & Co. if they're here, but we can't afford our administration just because they've done a good PR.

Yep, most of Chinese citizens don't get very civil, because of economic concerns and lack of the necessaries. Since many people live economically poorer than most of suburban ghettos of industrialized countries, why should they care about etiquettes before their stomachs?

I states what I stated before, we're no better than India.

It's not racism. It's mixture feeling of admiration, curiosity and jealousy. I personally lean to admiration more, but I like talking with all of you equally, and I did.

Law is illusion, constitution rights are non-existent, but westerners are real. How can I refuse to admire your freedom while we're subjected to heavy regulation and blatant browbeat from the local authority? Because our prosperity, fortune and freedom hang on the mercy of them, they can force non-existent regulation on to us and we have to suffer. Western citizens in China don't--if they feel coerced they'll leave, but we don't have this privilege.

Many of our nationalists lean to envy, they hate to see westerners living in China enjoy many privilege compared to our citizens. But they forget one thing: westerners in China enjoy rights granted by law and constitution and international treaties, but we have the rights by the same code, yet suspended in the air...

When I can't access Wikipedia,
When I can't have a voice of my own,
When I'm harassed everyday by the stupidity and cruelty the government spammed through every channel of TV, newspaper and Internet,
When I'm reading English yet don't dare to discuss in Chinese,
When I'm feeling tired of my unchained stream of thought dimmed by the night,

I sighed.

@plarq

:pat:

Hang in there. Things will get better.

It will be slow as molasses though, and we may not live to see it, but our children or grandchildren will.

BTW there are ways to access Wikipedia from China. You just can't edit.

Wow. I'm glad that I'm a Chinese immigrant living in America. I didn't even know that there were so many censorships:eek: ! 中华人民共和国万岁!

What I like about the current China:
(1) The vast, varied and beautiful landscape.
(2) The very interesting culture.
(3) The great-tasting and affordable food.
(4) The great variety of drink.
(5) The cute women. :groucho:
(6) The emphasis on education, self-reliance and self-improvement as opposed to relying on the government and then complaining when it doesn't meet your expectations.
(7) A government that knows what to do and manages to fulfill its tasks despite the presence of rampant corruption.
(8) A government that is pragmatic and run by engineers, not lawyers. ;)
(9) A very favorable business climate, as long as you have the right connections. ;)

What I don't like about the current China:
(1) The lack of civic-mindedness (公德心) among some of her people.
(2) The unscrupulousness and lack of conscience among some of her merchants (奸商)
(3) A crop of spoiled, clueless youth (愤青) who have no experience and no inkling about the horrors of war screaming for war with Taiwan/Japan/whoever everyday. :shake:
(4) Inability to think "out of the box" of established cultural notions. This IMO is the main reason why Japan in comparison enjoys more popularity in the West.
(5) The very uneven distribution of wealth (east China vs west China, cities vs villages), but I understand the government is working on this now.
(6) A very insufficient welfare system that might as well not exist.
(7) Government censorship with regards information and media.
(8) Ridiculous amounts of bureaucratic red tape.
(9) Corruption.

I stayed there where I finished my Bachelor degree, the city is OK but overpopulated and unsafe. It's good though, comparing to many smaller cities.

Edit: Talking about censorship, BBC is banned yet CNN and Foxnews are OK.How come?

You don't ban America, American bans you.
Wait that aint right .

I thought it went along with...

In Soviet Russia, America bans YOU!!

;).

Dislike the gov't, mostly neutral otherwise. I do feel that a major war between the China and the west is almost inevitable within the next 15-20 years, certainly within my lifetime.
