I think your reactions are exagerated. I looks fine to me. Perhaps it's just not as beautiful as the mountains, but it really doesn't bug me.
Forest is also the hardest thing to draw, I think.

They aren't the best forests that I have ever seen but they'll do.

As long as I can EASILY tell the difference between terrain types and it at least looks a little bit like what they say it is, I'll be OK.

Once again: I hope they are focusing more energy on improving the gameplay than on tweaking the graphics.

Ok, I'm sure you'll take me for a fool but I would like Civ3 forest graphics look like Settlers 2 grafx. I always enjoyed SII (not SIII nor SIV)
I think it's quite good. Anyway, I'm slowly preparing myself to face the Civ3 isometrical 3D. I've always prefered the Civ1 2D.

well, that may not be a forest graphic they include anyways. From what I understand they have TONS of drawings for each type of terrain. I am sure they will not include all of them, just the best ones.
