Not so, I believe that I have seen PS2 and GCN versions of it, maybe a PC one.

I love playing RPGs, most of the games I play are either RPG or Strategy games. I think these are all of the ones I played, it's too tough to pick a favorite. As you can tell from the list my favorite series' are the Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, and the Fire Emblem series.

FF IV
FF VI
FF VII
FF X
FF: Tactics Advance
FF: Crystal Chronicles
Legend of Zelda (NES) - My 1st game, I was 4 years old when I beat it. :smug:
LoZ II: Link's Adventure
LOZ: A Link to the Past
LoZ: Ocarina of Time
LoZ: Majora's Mask
LoZ: Wind Waker
LoZ: Oracle of Ages
LoZ: Oracle of Seasons
LoZ: Four Swords Adventure
LoZ: The Minish Cap
Fire Emblem VII: The Blazing Sword
Fire Emblem VIII: The Sacred Stones
Fire Emblem IX: Path of Radiance
Pokemon: Blue
Pokemon: Crystal
Morrowind
Tales of Symphonia
Chrono Trigger
Earthbound
Ogre Battle
Mario RPG
Secret of Mana
Secret of Evermore
Solstice

These are the games I'm waiting for to come out:
LoZ: Twilight Princess (GC)
ES IV: Oblivion (PC)
FF V (GBA)

I'm sorry folks, but Zelda games aren't RPGs. There aren't states, leveling up, or anything along the lines of RPGs. They're Action-Adventure games.

The RPGs I'm looking forward to most are Final Fantasy XII, Kingdom Hearts 2, and Mass Effect. Those'll rock.

I have.....

.Hack 1
.Hack 2
Suikoden III
Suikoden IV
Atelier Iris

Way way back in the old SNES days I used to play Koei's "Inindo, Way of the Ninja".

Zelda games are my favorite RPGs. They're my favorite "loosely based on RPGs" anyway, :p. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is very good, as well. The Paper Mario games are hilarious, and have an awesome attack system, with all the correctly timed button presses and stuff. But my all time favorite RPG is Dragon Warrior III for the Game Boy Color. So many possibilities, and every time you think you beat the ultimate evil boss, you get to go through another world to fight an even harder one,. Plus, the personality test and stuff are really cool! I've always wanted to try Jade Empire, but it's only on xbox.

Hmmmmm does anyone want to try and play a forum RPG? Make up the rules, story and go ahead with it?

Jade empire and Lionheart? Well I wouldnt recommend Lionheart the gameplay and story was rather stale and boring, the only thing it had going for it was the rather unique setting it will also be hard to find now Black Isle is gone.

I've been wondering if i should buy Temple of Elemantal Evil is it worth getting? it looks ok but I've heard it was a let down.(I think its funny when people claim to know about rpg's but dont recognise my avatar)

and what would your avatar be, and no, I do not claim to know alot about rpgs?

See. If they're loosely based RPGs, then almost anygame can be an rpg. Grand Theft Auto is mine fav then, as your health increases from play, your stamina increases, accuracy with guns increases, driving ability, breath for swimming increases... Anything can be an RPG by that standard. Civ 4 can be an rpg. I name my warrior. I go out and fight. I level up and upgrade my character. Yay. That's not an rpg though. Sorry I'm getting a little flustered. It's just not an rpg.

Sort of....however we need more players and develop a system of rules so that the Master does not get overwhelmed.

GTA is one of the best RPG's.

Any dont go knocking it. Just because you arn't battling goblins and running around with pointy hats on ;)

Its full of quests etc, and the more you do things your skills improve

Nope!

Ah. Sarcasm doesn't work over the internet. I really love GTA. San Andreas is one of the greatest games ever. I was trying to make a connection with LOZ and GTA as both being rpgs, since they're not. People here have been saying LOZ is a great rpg, but it's not, as GTA isn't either. GTA rocks.

GTA is not an rpg simply because it has rpg elements in it. You can't customize your character, except change clothes. You can't make him and what he does unique from anyone else, so it can't really be considered an rpg. In an rpg, skills and what not are really what make it an rpg, because you can role play and make the character however you want, whereas in GTA you just mold C.J. along the path that the game has already set for you.

Black Isle had great ideas (stories) for great games - too bad they are gone .

Most of the refugees from Black Isle are now at Obsidian Entertainment. They leveraged their connections with Bioware (Black Isle/Interplay published all of Bioware's hits) to get their first two projects: The aforementioned KotOR 2 and the forthcoming Neverwinter Nights 2. Their 3rd project, which is yet unannounced, is supposed to be an original IP.

As for other previously mentioned games, Fallout 1 & Planescape: Torment are my favorites. Morrowind was fun for a few hours, until you realize that there's no point to doing anything in the game. The Japanese RPGs bored me terribly.

Zelda's not an RPG like... at all. I honestly have no idea why everyone gets that misconception.

There's no leveling up or random encounters, and the plot is relatively unimportant to the gameplay itself. The only way I guess it could even be similar to an RPG is how you get stronger items as you get further into the game... or how there's towns and stuff. Yeah, I never figured out where the whole "Zelda is an RPG" idea came from... and still don't.

Maybe Zelda II.
