Do you usually randomly choose civs to play or pick from a short list of 2-3 favorites? Are there some civs you view as too strong or too weak to ever want to play?

I think I play maybe half my games with one of my favorite civs, and try out civs I haven't played for the most part for the other half

EDIT: I don't really let strength be a deciding factor in who I play, since I play on prince, anyhow

More or less randomly. I have a few civs I like more than others, but really, I just try to play to my civ's strengths.

Playing an Ottomans game right now where I've managed to keep my two violently inclined neighbors off my back all game; they finally just DoWed me, after I got a solid contingent of Janissaries. The war should be relatively one-sided. >:]

I pick random, but I'll reroll if it comes up with one I played recently or don't feel like being.

I play multiplayer and i usually pick random. I'm not afraid of France and Aztec players. I might be afraid of Hiawatha since new patch...but i will beeline archery too lol

I usually pick a shortlist of 5 or 6 civs that either are my favourites or I haven't played in a while.

I go in phases, and right now I'm into Babylon and the Incas. Before that it was Darius, before that it was Egypt, before that it was.....

I don't know. I can't stand it anymore. I'm addicted. I've consulted professional help about my addiction. Doctor Jack Daniels has told me to stop but I just can't. Speaking of which, I think I will be visiting the good doctor here real soon.

Pre patch I loved going occ so went Egypt, siam, Babylon or aztec... but I've given everyone a try.
Tonight thou going to give Roman a go haven't played them in a while :)

Recently I saw a tier list of powerful civs, and I saw my favourite civ (regarding power) was the second last :P

I love egypt, I think wonders are pretty powerful in civ5, and I also prefer special buildings than units. I was suprised to see it the second worst civ in that list.

I have a couple of favourites, but I only choose if I'm going for a pre-determined victory condition. Otherwise I'll just go for random and adapt.

I'd expect egypt ranks a lot higher with the buff to wonders in the patch

That's true, the ranking was from before the patch. But I still liked egypt before the patch. Too many civs with 2 special units instead of a building for my likeing

All random all the time. The only time I re-roll is if I just played the same side the last game or two.

Basically random, but lately I haven't used the random selection because with so many civs and so little playtime, I'm choosing civs I haven't played in a long time. I avoid the "overpowered" civs as a rule, though I'll play them if it's been AGES.

I have a favourite Civ and I stick to them. I might try another Civ if they release Zulu as DLC. I'm surprised to hear so many people choose at random. I guess I really get in the mindset that I *am* the Civ I play as. It's like how in fighting games I develop a favorite character and almost never use anyone else.

Well, at least personally, I know that I really like being the INCA and played as them for several games in a row. At some point, though, I felt like they were my crutch and I'd probably be more challenged (and have more interesting decisions) if I played someone else for a change.

My choose of civs depends on the difficulty setting and the type of game I want.

Im playing emperor now, so Im sticking with france when I try to diplo win or with one of the military civs, like japan, denmark or mongolia when Im felling more aggressive.
