Civilization 4
civ69np.gif
comes with a 220 page manual. This all-new game will contain many new or different concepts. Many say it's a bigger step from Civ3 to Civ4 than it was from Civ2 to Civ3.

So, the question is: Do you (intend to) read the
civ69np.gif
manual?

M.

Yes. Nerds normally like to read manuals, I don't know why but I really like.
:)

I never read manuals. I can read your palm lines, if you like, though. :D

But I might make an exception with Civ IV. i will skim it while I am installing the game.

I am not a nerd; I am a scientific specialist who would easily turn into an unhappy citizen whenever the word nerd is spread about.
... It's just such a nerdy word.

But yes! I will read this manual and I will use its information to give myself a gist of the things unmentioned/changed in Civ IV's mechanics! Hopefully with a better understanding of them I can later unmake them with mods and ruin the game for everyone but me.

I am a Diety Civ3 player. I think my ability and knowledge in Civ3 will let me jump right in and look at the manual when I need to.

Normally I read a bit during installation. Then play and read as I go along. And whenever I take a bathroom break I'll bring the manual with me :goodjob:

Of course, I'll read the manual. I'll read while my fiance drives me home from the store, and while the game is installing. Maximum advantage, minimum time lost.

or when I have to go to an appointment or to school for a lunch break reveiw, any spare time actually

I usually read alittle bit like I will browse through and If I see something thats new IE Religion Ill read about it but no need to read the other stuff.

I said other. Eventually I'll probably skim through it, but I'll never "read" it. And no, option three doesn't work because I wouldn't bother interrupting play to look at a manual.

Install...browse it...play reference it.....endure crushing defeat
Read "religiously" ;)

I hire and manage techs. If I even get a whiff of that attitude in an interview, they immediately go in the no-way-in-hell-am-i-hiring-this-person pile.

Essentially, they are someone who is purposely handicapping themselves compared to people who read manuals. I want the person who wants to know as much as possible not the one who only knows as much as they happen to run across.

I've never been able to figure out why some people think not trying to know as much as possible is something to not only be proud of but something to brag about.

I'll be reading it on the train ride back to my dorm after I pick it up from Gamestop! Once I'm back on campus, I'll probably read it again before I sleep (assuming i sleep :coffee: ).

After the initial rush, I'll read the booklet in its entirety eventually.

The manual is one of my favorite parts! I love reading game manuals! I'm excited as hell to read it. Wish I could get it a couple days early so I Can read all about it before I play. Absolutely wil lread it front and back.

220 pages. Ouch.

I tend to read manuals for the games I play - I'm a geek and an information freak.

I seriously doubt I'll read all of those 220 pages before I play though. More likely I'll skim through for critical information and skip the history kind of stuff. The manual likely also contains a ton of stuff that's readily available in-game via the 'pedia on demand when you really need it.

Even more likely since I'm so anxiously awaiting this game is that I'll read a smidge of the manual while installing, immediately dive into the tutorial, then read more of the manual for more info and to see what I missed.
