Do you save GGs for later Golden Ages?

Golden Ages are stronger later in the game when the economy has developed. Is it worth it to save excess GGs to use them for later Golden Ages? Or do you use them as soon as you get them?

I use them immediately, the upkeep costs generally outweigh the benefits. Great Scientists and Engineers are the only ones I won't always set to doing something straight away (by which I mean settling, using their ability, sacrificing for golden age or travelling to where they are to perform an action), and with the latest patch I'm going to be saving Scientists less.

Depends alot on the timeframe. If I'm expecting big economic boosts on a short term (founding new cities, building a market etc.) then I will wait.

However waiting has drawbacks. The unit costs maintenance. And also, gold you earn now can be used now to benefit you now and thus pay off on the longterm. Whereas gold later will only pay off later.

It also depends wheter I can use it in conflicts (even when I don't really need it). I usually prefer not to wait long since I tend to forget :smoke:

Yeah, unless you know that you're going to be getting a bunch of Markets/Banks, or new cities, or cities coming out of revolt, in the near future, I would use them for GA's sooner rather than later. Hammers and gold early is better than hammers and gold late.

Another exception is saving for a space push, but I think burning your last GG you've been using for combat on that works quite well.

I think if you have any plans to have Chichen Itza in your possession, you should save them.

Aimless Gun!! Hey we need another AAR with pictures, Circle thingys, Quotes and general sillyness. I am waiting patiently to die laughing again......

I'm not sold on your premise. You get more raw, measurable production/gold out of a late golden age. But while getting a settler out 5 turns faster in the very early game isn't that big of a boost in raw hammers, the fact is that the settler is going to snowball wildly; you get a city 5 turns faster in its early development, which can add up to huge gains over time.
