Do you use file sharing programs.

Do you use programs like WinMX, Kazaa, and Morpheus In completely legal ways?

  • Of course I do. I only download MP3s that I already have on CD.

Try changing the ports....I don't know enough about them to tell you hoe but with most of those programs you can. Try port 80, which is for HTTP, or ports 21/23...they are normally left open.

I have no idea how to do that

I did the foot work for you for eDonkey:

How can I change which port eDonkey is using?

Currently it's only port 4662 (the client connection port) you can change. You can do that by typing: ‘port x’ (without the ‘ - x= any valid port number) in the message window (bottom right).

I would suggest going to each program's website and look for documentation. "F.A.Q." might be the best place to look or maybe "Advanced". And as always, RTFM. ;)

I've used Bearshare, Napster, Direct Connect, Edonkey, and some of the other Guntella based progs on my 56k. All did what I needed them to do. But most of the people on there are non 56k friendly. I'll have my DSL in a week though, so I'll try again.

As far as pirating progs, I see it like this, I'm not paying $60 for WC3. Not going to happen. And I'm not buying a whole CD of music with 11 crappy songs to get that 1 good song. The record industry has overpriced CD's for as long as I can remember. Hell, cassette tapes cost more to make, why are they cheaper to buy than CD's?

I do buy certain progs and stuff. If I know I'll use it for more than a week I'll shell out the dough. But who in they're right mind would pay $450 for Office XP? (switched to openoffice anyway).

Crazy.
