I have a bluetooth keyboard with a bunch of useless extra buttons on it and I never use them. The only ones I do use are the volume and mute buttons as its in the living room and is kind of an HTPC setup.

The only ones present on my current Dell laptop are media controls - mute, volume down/up, pause/play, previous/next, and stop. But I actually use them very often. Much more convenient than always going to the taskbar or the media program I'm using, and as they're on the exterior of the laptop, I can even use them with the screen closed. I miss them at times when I'm using a desktop with no equivalent.

Another thing too, I remember now: I used to have speakers with a faulty power button, so whenever you turn them off it took about 15 minutes to turn back on. So I used the mute button on the keyboard instead. (I don't have those speakers anymore because one day mom had a fit and unplugged them and neither of us could turn them back on. Then she started hacking at them with a screwdriver, trying to "fix" it. You can guess what happened.)
